Re: HP laptop keyboard frozen
If you've tried the software restore it still won't respond iwould assume there is a hardware issue with your keyboard. It could be just a connection issue. Ifyou're out of warranty, somebody has to open the Laptop and either reconnect properly or replace thepart. The part is available on ebay. Here's a guide on how to disassemble a Laptop. Maybe a tech savy friend can do it for you. If you want to pay to have somebody do it for you there are third partyLaptop Repair Services.

Your laptop probably disables your touchpad when any USB mouse is detected. This is pretty reasonable, since your palms can easily stray over the touchpad during touch-typing. I'm not sure how to go about disabling that, but I'm 95% sure there's a way (even if it involves some command-line stuff).
The first thing to do is my computer properties see if your keyboard and mouse are showing in there
If they are you need to update the drivers.
If they are not showing then I would suggest going to control panel and add new hardware installing that way
Try using a standard mouse instead of usb
If you cannot get on try restarting in safemode to correct your problem.
Or if you have a cd that came with the mouse and keyboard reinstall it.
Let me know if this helped also did you reinstall the same version of windows
Press the Receiver button (and the lights will start
Then if the Keyboard isn't working, press the small RESET/CONNECT
button on the back of the board to connect the keyboard to the
If the MOUSE isn’t working, push the small RESET/CONNECT button
on the back of the mouse to connect to the receiver. Then they
should work okay.
Hope this helps. Bud
Check if you have installed the latest drivers... For the touchpad, you should be able to find them on the hp support site For external mouse, there should be drivers on the manufacturers site or the driver disk that came along with it.
Is it the touchpad that doesn't work, or is it an external mouse?
Assuming that your keyboard stops working when its on (same for mouse) then it means your machine will be frozen
Try to give it time (around 3 mins) without doing anything letting it resolve the issue the keyboard should work on later. If this solve your problem then your computer is just slow bcoz of a virus, too many programs to load at start up, new software or hardware update.
Try using a different keyboard when yopu boot up preferably a PS/2 keyboard,if this one works well then its means you nmeed to load new drivers for your keyboard and mouse
Also try running chkdsk to clear your harddrive for errors.
