I think you have a hardware problem and need to seervice the drive, open it up and dust it out. the cmos battery shld give you 3V if its a desktop. you shld try clearing the memory with the jumper on short, then setting the time agian and see how it goes

Unable to get system manager-Autoloader to ID the media discs. Doesn't show any option for media type. Only sees 120mm standard.

If the autoloader is in ready state, reboot the PC. Check if system manager displays the autoloader drives and printer. Check the firewire cable. It's easy to plug it in backwards. The firewire card can get damaged if it was plugged in backwards.

What do i need for a computer to start burning or to creat a cd/mp3/dvd .

First you need music to put on the CD. You can put your own music CD in the drive and run Windows Media Player and rip them to your hard drive (copies them). After you get all the songs you want onto your hard drive, you can make an audio CD if you ripped the songs as WAV files (this CD can be played in most CD players) or you can make an MP3 CD if you ripped the songs as mp3 files (this CD can only be played in CD players that support the MP3 standard). To make the audio CD or MP3 CD, just download the free program called BurnAware from the internet and run it. Insert a blank recordable CD in your computer, choose Audio CD or MP3 CD, then choose the songs you want and burn the CD. That's it.

I am showing I have no more disk space and I cannot defregmentate. I show only 2% free space. Also I disk cleanup and it didn't do much. How do I find where the problem lies.

The simpliest answer would be to de-install games, media, and audio files. Even as far back as Win95 and even Dos it was nearly impossible to put that much programming onto a hard drive unless a bunch of junk files were added i.e. the games, movies, and songs. Now a smart man would try to write any or all of his more important media files to a CD/DVD writer assuming he has one before deleting from his hard drive. His games would probably have to be re-installed later if he considers the health of his hard drive to be of supreme importance. There are defragmentation programs that will run at 2%, but the runtime on such program on what is probably a highly fragmented drive would be atrocious and the user would most likely stop the defrag before being completed. Plus these programs are not free. Fragmented drives with so little free space would and do cause major headaches when writing information to DVD/CD, i.e. any copied information to DVD/CD would have to verified against original information on hard drive before they could be trusted. Imgburn is one such DVD/CD wrtiing program that is not only small but also free and is considered to be one of the best small programs on the market for such endeavors
But the best answer of all is simply not let your hard drive ever get into this predicament. But now that the situation has occured you might want to try DU from Microsoft SysInternals located here . It will provide a graphical view of which folders are occupying the most space on your hard drive. Be aware, don't remove the Windows and Program Files folders, in fact until you learn how to look at this program and Windows Explorer, don't remove any folders. Just remove video, music, and games files, else you might end up with a computer that won't boot up...

Sony DVD Rom does not work...

IF you go to my computer or explore, and it does not work (EVER) then you either have a bad drive or bad controller.

More likely of the 2 is a bad drive. You can try a cd/dvd cleaning kit found at walmart, however it is unlikly that is the problem.
