KENWOOD SECURITY CODE CLEAR procedure
Your radio will require one of the following procedures.
Type 1
During the code request mode, while holding the DISP key depressed, press and hold the Volume UP or DOWN key for 3 seconds (so that “…” disappears).
Then using your remote enter your code.
Type 2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on face of radio at the same time. The four dash lines ( . . . . ) should "disappear".
Then using your remote enter your code.
Type 3
Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset key (preset keys are the buttons on face of radio for storing you "favorite" radio stations). "C" should display.
Then using your remote, enter your code.
Enter your number from the remote control unit. Your code number is 5227 (KCAR)
* Press numeric key “5” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 3 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “2” ( 1 time ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
* Press numeric key “7” ( 2 times ) and press the Track UP/Next Track key
The security is canceled and the set enters the TUNER mode!

Start type the code on the face preset button only 1 to 4 to let it appear this number start from 3110 and press Play/Pause button. do itz until it's get to 3119.... the code is 3112 but it'z quite hard....
maybe ur rite!! solution num 2, put it in the trash!!!!

i have a kenwood kdc-241 car stereo and it has gone onto protect mode i have done everything it says in the manual and even taken it out of the car just in case it was damp i have tried putting it back in but still is in protect mode can anyone help me please

I just solved the problem with my kenwood dpx mp 2090U - (looks similar with 501). FL Display with single CD, USB, 2 Din.
I should share this......... as I received the clue from someone that share the same case to me . Thanks to Mr,Nasirbaek from Indonesia,
The problem is at the main board . Dry (bad) soldering occurred. There are more then 5 resistors in series configuration. The resistor is quiet big (1.5mm x 3.5 mm, surface mount type R) about 2,7Ohms.The position is start from near usb port cable and ended to near big transistor (1 x 1.5 cm power transistor). After resoldering check with multitester to make sure that all R are connected in series configuration.
Just open 3 screws to access the main board. 1 at the top case. 2 at cd assembly, then Carefully take out the CD and the CD ribbon cable.
