If the system will not run from the AC adapter, then it issue is normally limited to one of 2 possible failures.

1. The AC Adapter has failed.
2. The connection on the motherboard has failed.

If under warranty, contact NEC to get the adapter replaced or system repaired.

If the warranty has expired, then your best bet is to first try a new AC Adapter and see if the adapter has failed.

If that doesn't work or if the power connection on the motherboard is obviously broken/loose then a replacement motherboard is the most likely answer.

here is a link to a replacement adapter:

When i power on my nec versa e600 the laptop make several long peeps..what can i do...

Hi,

If you are hearing 3 beeps then you have a faulty or loose memory chip.

Turn the laptop off, remove the power cord and the battery. Turn the laptop upsidedown and look for a panel with a couple of philips screws. Unscrew these screws and access the RAM (memory) bay.

Unclip the memory and clean the brass contacts and the slots.
If there is more than 1 memory module put them back one at a time and try turn the laptop on to see if it boots.

If there is less or more than 3 beeps please let me know how many there are as the length and how many beeps gives us an indication of what the problem is.
Listen carefully at the beeps and try your best to describe them.

Regards.

DC input jack broken

Yes it's not usually something that can be repaired at home. Your chances are better if the jack just seems loose and not actually broken, however replacing it is better. I work for a Laptop Repair Shop in NYC and we deal with this issue frequently.

Beep sound? Is it one beep or a series of beeps. If it is one beep that is your system telling you that it has past the POST test (power on self test). If it is a series of beeps, this could be the key to your issues. Record the beeps, regarding if they are long, short, how many etc. There are websites that will decode the beeps for you. Such as www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes If it is only one beep and going directly to "standby" you may be experiencing a power and/or heat issue.
