Question about Heating & Cooling

Totaline Thermostat. P474 1035 Batteries died while I was out of town. I thought a simple replacement would have it up and running! Screen comes on and reads the room temp just fine but will no longer turn on the a/c in any mode (manual or auto). I looked at the manual and it gives a wonderful warning "The manufacturer cannot be liable for improper operation of the thermostat if the batteries are not immediately replaced." Help!!! Is there any way to fix it? This is a time I wish I wasn't living alone at college lol

Not good news...the manufacturer is issuing this disclaimer because of a reason. I would contact the manufacturer and explain the situation to them, since you couldn't replace the batteries as you were out of town.
Here's a web blog and they discuss Totaline parts:
I don't know which wires are required for the A/C, but you a thermostat is a switch, and if you can figure out the wires, you can jumper them to a temporary switch to turn the a/c on and off manually- that's the only workaround I can think of until you get another thermostat. If you're in a dorm room, they should have replacement units.
Wish I had better news. Here's Totaline's web support page, perhaps they can assist you:
Good luck, sorry there's not much good news, and hope this helps.

It's probably the liquid crystal has a crack and is flowing inside the glass. It can only be repaired with a new display.

Why not contact Totaline directly and see what they can offer?

Do I have a wiring or other easy to fix problem or must I replace thermostat? My Totaline 0441 thermostat (installed in 2004) turns fan on as programed but just suddenly stopped producing HEAT.

It is possible that it is the Thermostat but more likely the heat source the thermostat is connected to. Set the thermostat to heat to as high as it can go. If the heat source does not come on in a few minutes you likely have a problem at the heater which may be a simple loose or burnt connection in the wiring or something more serious.

I tried to turn on my air coditioning today for the first time this year and my Totaline Themostat P474-1050 won't turn on. Worked fine during the winter and last summer.

the thermostat is powered by the unit or batteries if batteries they may be dead if the unit you need to check fuses outside at unit or reset breaker outside depending on age of installation

I have a totaline with issues

Replace the batteries first. If that does not fix it, you either have lost 24V from the furnace/airhandler, or the thermostat is bad.

You may get lucky and find that the only problem is a blown 3 or 5 amp fuse on the board. Although that usually indicates a short somewhere in the system.

I have a Totaline thermostat for my upstairs and downstairs. I have the thermostat in the OFF position but it keeps kicking the fan on. The green LED light is not lit up showing me that it is even on. What...

First make sure the thermostat fan switch is on "auto" and not set to "on". Also some thermostats have the ability to run the fan intermittently for air circulation in the house using the FAU filter to keep the inside air clean. So check your manual for the thermostat and see if it has this capability & how to turn it off if it does. Otherwise it could be a malfunctioning thermostat or FAU.

Model ct3600 thermostat not working

I know it sounds simple but the batteries are probably in the wrong direction. If they are correctly installed and fresh you will usually get a display.
