Question about Tomtom GO 300 GPS Receiver
Resetting only needs one quick push of the reset button. repeated pressing or too much force will damage the button. You can feel the reset switch operate as it clicks ( tactile ). All the reset switch does is momenteraly disconnect the battery. This resets the proccessor. You can also do a harder re-set by holding the on button down whilst also pressing the reset button. This should disconnect the battery AND discharge any internal capacitors , thus ensuring a complete reset of the processor. If resetting doesnt work , then its likely 2 IC's are blown inside the TomTom , U24 and U25 , this fault being caused by a faulty charger unit ( cigarette charges are known to go faulty giving too higher voltage out ) . Unfortunatly, U24 and U25 cannot be replaced by an ordinary repair service as it needs special technique and special tools. The green light ON , only proves that power is getting to the unit , it does NOT prove the battery is being charged. .... Good luck
