How do you use the buttonhole foot on a babylock companion 1550

1.Mark position and length of buttonhole on fabric.
2.Set button on the base and slide base forward to secure button.
* If button does not fit on the base, adjust slide on base to diameter of button plus thickness of button.
a= Length of button + thickness
3.Pass upper thread through the hole of buttonhole foot and attach buttonhole foot to machine.
Bring upper and bobbin threads to the left under foot.
4.Position fabric under presser foot so that the center line mark is in the center of the needle opening in the buttonhole foot. With the main part of the foot pushed to the back, lower the presser foot lever.
5.Lower the buttonhole foot lever so it is positioned behind the raised finger on the foot (see step 5 illustration). a
Note:Machine will not start to sew if buttonhole lever is not lowered properly or buttonhole foot is not positioned correctly.
Note:If machine does not reset for second buttonhole, be sure the presser foot raised finger is pressed against the lever.
6.Hold upper thread lightly and start the machine.

How to put the pressure foot down on material on a simple sewing machine model 3116

The left button sticking out on the upper left position of the arch raises and lowers the foot. If you want to lower the pressure there is a screw object on the top left side of the machine. You can change it by turning it with a coin. It shouldn't need changed since it has been preset. For extra thick objects it will need to be lowered by turning counter clockwise.

I have the juki TL 98Q and the presser foot will not go up or down. The lever in the back moves but the foot stays up.

It could be as simple as the set screw in the lifting collar has came loose. If you open the end piece and raise the lever in the back up and down you should be able to see if the collar is loose. It will be on the pressure bar and it is the piece the lever pushes on to lift the foot. If just loose you have to put it to where it needs to be on pressure bar to lift it high enough and tighten the set screw.

Computer stuck on "Raise presser foot lever" when I want to embroider

I fixed myself. When you take off the front left cover to expose inner workings o0f pressure foot lever, move the pressure foot lever see, the small metal plate move, when looking from back of machine see a small post upper left rear with what kooks to be a spring, lightly touch causing to spring back to the left and you will hear a snap. This is realigning pressure foot and your embroidery unit will register and you will have a normal lcd screen. This helped me, hope helps you.

How to guide thread on kenmore 158.13201

Most machines are very, very similar, therefore, no matter what brand you own, there's basically the same steps to follow: 1. Place good quality thread on spool pin, back right-hand side of machine and raise presser foot UP. 2.Pull thread taut from spool.Make sure silver take-up lever raised to highest position. 3. Guide thread under first tension disc. 4. Hold thread taut, guiding thread into next tension disc. When you get to the take-up leaver (silver lever on right side of machine that has a hole at the top--hold thread taut guiding it from right to left through hole, bring thread down left side of it, and put thread into tension bracket, hold thread taut! Put thread in back of needle into another small bracket and pull thread towards you. Time to thread needle: put thread front to back into eye of needle. Put thread under presser foot and pull under the center of it a good 6".Lower presser foot on scrap of fabric to test. Turn hand wheel toward you to lower needle into fabric scrap. Use foot (or knee depending on machine) to start machine. Do not pull or push fabric but gently guide it. Jimmy Place fabric scrap under needle. Low

Presser foot on bernina 180 won't go all the way down

Could be a number of things ... does the foot-lift lever go all the way down when you lower the foot and is it unusually 'floppy' when you lower it. There is a small spring inside that should keep tension on the lever and these can ping off if you inadvertently let the foot drop under its own pressure instead of letting it down slowly onto the fabric (they're a nightmare to put back, too !) ... if it has come off, it may be jammed in the foot lifter mechanism. It's also possible that the foot lifter has shifted on the foot bar, in which case it really needs to be looked-at by a qualified Bernina service agent. When raised, there should be a gap of 7.5mm between the bottom of the foot and the top of the stitch plate - if much more than this, it indicates that the adjuster has shifted and you'll need to get it looked-at professionally.

How do I change the presser foot on an elna mini sewing machine?

I dodn't know your model really well but it will be one of the following:
a clip on foot that you just pull down on to remove,
a clip on foot with a button at the back of the pressure foot holder - press the button to release the foot
a clip on foot with a little lever at the back of the pressure foot holder - lift the lever to release the foot
If it is a clip on foot, then you just need to raise the pressure foot lever, put your fingers onto the pressure foot and press downwards, it should unclip.

To put one on, place the pressure foot onto the needle plate under the pressure foot bar and lower the pressure foot bar down onto the foot, lining up the base of the foot holder with the little bar on the foot, it should click into place.

When I raise the lever the presser foot only lifts a bit at the end of the motion and doesn't stay up. Is the foot supposed to remain up after the lever is raised? In the first 40 degrees of motion...

yes, pressure foot lever should stay raised, this sounds like the spring has broken in your machine. if you are comfortable with delving into the machine you could open it up and take a look. alternatively take it to a sewing repair man and get it serviced as well as clean and lube.

What is pressure foot on sewing machine. where is pressure foot

This is the foot that comes down and holds the fabric layers under the needle.

There will be a pressure foot lever to raise and lower the pressure foot at the back of the sewing area, it usually operates vertically, although some makes have a lever that works horizontally.

The pressure foot needs to be lowered BEFORE you start stitching as it activates the top tension and also helps with the stitch formation by holding the fabric firmly as the needle moves up and down.

You can read some general sewing machine info at www.sewing.about.com too.

Pfaff 6122 Problem

Your machine just needs to be tuned up an the part inside that lower and raises the presser foot needs to be re-lubricated.  Lint, dust, dryness and the machine not being used can cause this issue with most pfaff machines (including my 7570).  A standard tune up from your local PFAFF dealer will remedy this.
