stop Turning on.
the reason may be either of them:

1. Hardware faulty.
2. Loose cables/cards
3. Bad CMOS clock.

we deal with all of them.

1. Change CMOS Battery and short free the RAM by jumper(Uou need to check the manual or let me know the model.
2.reseat all the cables and Cards.
Boot the system Now.
Still give a long Beep?

(It may be a Hardware gone bad) But we need the confirmation for HW itself. We may conduct tests.

Dell Systems are reliable and least troublesome.

Hello

That beep could mean alot of things, but probably a VIDEO CARD or RAM has become unseated.

If you feel comfortable with this, UNPLUG THE COMPUTER take off the case, remove and reinsert the ram chips, and the cards. You might need a screwdriver or two, and a LIGHT. The ram tabs are small.

Good Luck

Hi! For dell machines when u unplug the video cable/VGA from the tower while the system is on it will show monitor self test.If you are seeing a black box moving around the screen it means that monitor is ok.Check connection between monitor and tower.Make sure cables are securely plugged in.Check if the tower is ok. There is a possibility that your monitor is ok but the tower is not.check the power button (whats the color) if amber/orange, this means there is something wrong the the tower. If its blue or white it means its ok.Also check if you are going to hear one beep, it means system is booting up properly. If tower is ok and you are using a expansion video card then try to use internal one, normally its the vga port above the usbs.If you are going to use onboard video card make sure you enable it first in bios.If all things fail, contact your manufacturer, if the system is under warranty then they will send a tech to check the machine.hope this helps...

Try another monitor first, if that causes the same error message, suspect Graphics card problem, try replacement graphics card. One long beep points also to Ram issues

Computer won't restart....

it appears that this is a memory problem, based on the codes that you specified.

4 short beeps on vostro 200 monitor shows black?

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/vos200/en/index.htm
the above link will allow you to download pdf versions or view HTML versions of the Dell manuals for your machine.

4 beeps is RAM read/write failure

if you recently installed new RAM (memory) you should check to be sure that it is compatible. If not, you might just have a loose memory stick.

just remove and re-install memory modules making certain to seat them firmly.

!!!! Very important ..before touching memory.. be sure to discharge any static from your body - by touching anything grounded (I usually leave my tower plugged into a grounded outlet and make sure the rocker switch to the for the power supply(the switch on the back of the computer) is turned off.

Computer problem

during these beeps there should be pause between them at some point...in other words you may get 2 beeps/pause/1beep/pause/2 beeps noting the number of beeps and where the pauses are will help. From what you are describing and without more info it sounds as if you are describing beep codes, and they generally can give us a lot of information.

Dell tower desktop Dimension 5100. Tower makes whistling sound.

sounds like it could be a bearing in your hard drive. is this problem constant? If so, I would open up the tower and disconnect the hard drive and then power up the tower again. if the sound goes away--you need to get a new hard drive. If not, you could have some dust bunnies in your cooling fan.

My computer crashed and now the monitor goes into power save mode

You said that you hear a series of beeps, if you hear this kind of sounds maybe there is a loose connection from the CPU. Try to remove the Memory and put it back again.
