Question about Huffy Cycling

2 Answers

My son has the Huffy rock out bike. The pedal fell off, and so I was sent the whole single arm crank and new pedals. I have no owners manual, and no assembly instructions whatsoever. Along with the crank arm and pedals, I received only a packing slip....no instructions of how to replace the parts. I really need some instructions! The bike was only 6 weeks old when the pedal fell off, so I don't feel as though I should have to pay a professional repair person to repair a bike that should not have broken in the first place. Please send me instructions on how to replace the crank arm and pedals. Thank you, Tamara

The reason the pedal fell of is because of a bad set up. Who assembled the bike? If, you did, guess what! You did not tighten the pedal to the crank arm to begin with. If, Walmart or other discount store did it, have them fix it. You have to understand. you bought the bike without professionals putting it together and sometimes that is a problem when you don't have the knowledge of what you are doing. You have to pay one way or another. When you let a kid ride a bike that is not assembled correctly you are endangering them. My advice is :Get it fixed right.

I have been in the bike business for almost 40 years and know what I am talking about, I have seen many injuries from kids riding bikes too large, brakes not working, loose pedals, no instruction on how to recognize a problem. Sorry, you did not like my answer but it is truthful.

I had the same problem with a huffy bicycle but it was a Mojave gulch. I have been riding and assembling my own bicycles since I was around 6 years old...though back then I must admit my dad did most of the hard work I am now 28. The bikes right pedal fell off and would not go back on after only 2 days of use where all we did was go to our school which is 7 blocks away and to a store that was 10 blocks away. Turns out the pedal had the threads slip and I was sent the whole crank arm to replace the slipped threads in the pedal and crank arm. I have removed both nuts on both sides of the wheel but the crank shafts or arms still won't come off. I think this is a huffy issue as I have many friends with huffy bikes that had the same problem. Let me know if you where able to to fix this problem without a professional please.

Stripped bicycle pedal

Better replace the pedal and most probably the crank arm as well. Sometimes a new pedal can cut the threads true again on the crank arm but the crank arm may need replacement too, depending on the damage. Remember to fit the correct side pedal. The pedal threads differ between left and right and pedals are usually marked "L" or "R".

How does a helicoil for stripped crank arm work?

I would just stop by a welding shop and have them weld the pedal arm on. You can buy another whole bike for what it costs to get a helicoil like that done. If it's the left hand thread, impossible.

Problem removing crank arm off of a mojave gulch bycicle from huffy

There's a special tool called a "crank puller" that has to be threaded in to the crank arms that are on your bike in order to remove them. An inexpensive version of the tool will cost around $10- which is about the same price as a shop would charge you for the work.
If you *do* want to remove them yourself, please be sure to thread the crank puller in perfectly straight and very, very carefully (backing in all the way out and starting over if you encounter resistance). Once you have threaded it almost all of the way in to the crank arm by hand, grab an adjustable wrench and tighten it down before you spin the handle to push the arm off of the bike. (If you fudge it and damage the threads inside the crank arm, you will have to pay a shop to bash them off instead- another special tool is used for that.)

The pedal assembly on my blackwater somehow got stripped always had problem with pedals coming off

If the thread on the crank arms that hold the pedals are stripped, you will need a new set of cranks. That is definitely a job for the bike shop. Make sure the pedals are snug in the arm, Right side pedal has right-hand thread, left side (looking down when you are on the bike) has a left-hand (reverse!) thread.

Your pedal falling off is never a good thing, nor is the entire crank arm assembly.

For this one you are best taking it into your local bike shop and have them take a look at why both of these fell off. There are a number of reasons, from stripped thread to missing bolts and nuts to improper assembly. None of these are a good scenario with a childs bike, or any bike for that matter.

Alternative, and my personal suggestion - Take the bike back to where it was purchased and exchange for a new one. These parts should not fall off after years of riding let alone 2 days, and would constitute a warranty and safety issue.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND CONTINUING TO RIDE THIS BIKE, SINCE YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE WAS IMPROPERLY ASSEMBLED.

Bike pedal fell off on a brand new huffy how do i put it back on

If, the threads aren't stripped, you can put it back on by getting a pedal wrench, and standing in front of the bike, now take the wrench and turn it towards you (clockwise) to tighten. But, if you rode with it loose, then you need a new crank arm. If, the store put it together go back to them but if you did, it is not a defect and you have to pay for one.

Remove the pedals from a boys huffy bike

Bike pedals can be a little tricky, but most likely for that bike you will need a 9/16's wrench. There should be some flat surfaces inboard of the pedals between the crank arm (the long arm that you screw the pedals into). Now, here's the hard part - the R pedal is normally threaded, but the L pedal is reversed. The easiest way to remember which way to turn the wrench is to stand behind the rear wheel and you will always pull the wrench towards you to loosen. Depending on how long the pedals have been on, they might be pretty tough to get off. You could use some penetrating spray (like Liquid Wrench) and let that sit for awhile. Also, once you get the pedals off, remember to put a little grease on the threads so that next time they won't be so tough!.

How do I get a replacement for a Disney Cars Huffy bike pedal?

You can find replacement pedals on amazon. The cheapest (with most positive reviews) is Avenir Resin Pedals. Just chose the size, and enjoy. cheersget-replacement-disney-cars-huffy-bike-uh3jsoynacgcqh0wcsujgpyu-2-0.jpg
