as Jamie said check the power supply (check fuses) also check the flex cable from the screen to the main PCB) these come loose and tend to show the no power symptoms as well

Usually if they will plug in it is right, but if you have one of those that fit all, then I wouldn't be afraid to start with the first since if it doesn't work, you can always try the second. One may give a better picture than the other, that you might compare with.
