Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9564J Top Load Washer

1 Answer

The cold water is barely coming out and warm or hot works normally. It is taking forever to do a load because it takes so long for the rinse cycle. What's happening?

First you should remove the hoses and clean the screens in the ends of the hose, some hoses have screens in both ends. While the hoses are removed look inside the water inlet valve there should be a screen in there also remove and clean the screen out. Some screens will not be removable so you will need to clean in place or remove the water inlet valve. If all is clear you will need to replace the water inlet valve. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. There is a video at http://appliancehelponline.com/topwaterinletvideo.html that will walk you thru the testing procedure. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. If you need help disassembling there are also videos of disassembling most styles. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models will be available. All parts come with installation instructions.

Cold water runs slow

Turn the cold water off and remove the hose at the machine. You will find a screen located there and you will need to clean it out.

When washer fills on warm water mode, it alternates between cold and hot water coming out in spurts. Is this normal, as it doesnt do it on rinse cycle.

My whirlpool washer fills up with hot / warm water (cold doesn't work) pretty quick for the washing cycle but it takes forever when filling the rinse cycle....help

The amount of water on the rinse is lower becaus it's using cooler water. You stated that the cold water isn't working.
Shut the water supplies off. Take the hoses loose from the hose bibs. There should be screen washers in the end of the hose. These are to catch the sediment that normally flows through the water supply pipes in our homes... Take the washer screens out and clean them with an old toothbrush.
Reinstall and while you're at it clean the hot side too.
Then take the machine end of the hoses off and check that it's all clear there as well.
Re install and run your machine on a cycle and monitor it to see if there is better flow on the cold wash cycle AND the rinse portions of your cycles...
If there is no screen washers in the hose, chances are you'll need to clean the water supply valves in the machine... real fun.. HOPE There's washers in your machine..

Water barely trickles out for rinse cycle

Hello,

It sounds like you have some buildup in the cold water valve screen. Where the hose connects to the washer there should be a screen inside the valve. Remove the cold water hose from the washer and clear any debri on the valve screen.

If this doesn't fix the slow cold water flow then you will have to replace the whole water valve assembly. The water valve is the piece that the hoses connect too and supply water to the washer.

If you have anymore questions about this please ask. I will be more than happy to help you out.

Thanks

Should the washer be hot after the rinse cycle?

Try cycling a cold/cold wash and see how that comes out.. if it comes out hot then your water inlet valve is letting hot water in when it shouldn't.. conversely, try cycling a hot/hot wash and see that it does indeed come out hot... ( quick tests to verify performance)..hope this helps.
