Sorry, but I see no vector, just a scalar value and nothing to solve for. If you want to calculate the value enter 3, press the power key (X^y, or Y^x, or ^, depending on the marking on the key, followed by the exponent to get the result 8.42587981071.

If you want to graph the absolute value of a function, feed the function to the absolute value ie graph y= abs(f(x)). The calculator will take care of it. Well, if that anything happens to be a negative number and you key in something like -3^0 without enclosing the argument -3 in parentheses then the answer given by the calculator is perfectly correct. I am just guessing what might have happened. Besides, as you well know, any number different from zero that is raised to the power 0 should yield a value of 1. Is there any point to be proven by calculating it?.

You cannot use a letter as an exponent, unless you stored a numerical value in memory B (EX: 3 [STO>] [ALPHA] B stores value 3 in B)

The Calculator has a feature that takes it into standby after a certain delay of inactivity. Possible values of the delay are 1 min, 3 min, 5 min, 10 min, and 30 min.

In view of this, your 3 sec value seems too short. I suspect that the batteries are depleted.

In OS 2.x, press 5: Settings & status, then 3:Handheld Setup. Look for drop down box to the right of Power Standby, and select a longer delay.

If there's something in memory, M1, M2 M3 will show in the display, clear the memory by storing the value zero.
