Greetings,

While it can be tempting to go for generic or copy-cat refills, after uncounted hours of wasted time seeking compatibility in these situations I have finally resigned myself to telling all my customers just to "pony up" and buy only OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) inks that exactly match their printers.

It just saves alot of frustration.

Best Regards,

Marcus

I would suggest using the manufacturer ink. If you use a third party ink cartridge not only does it void the warranty but then you run into situations like this. purchase an OEM cartridge and you should be good to go. If you need further assistance please let me know. Also please take a moment to accept/rate this solution accordingly if/when you find it helpful.
Thank you,
Lee

If this is a new printer how could you use compatible ink all the time on it? Not all printers are the same, so if you are trying to use a third party/refill cartridge then your not guaranteed it to work. You need to get an original brother ink cartridge. Thank you and please rate my solution appropriately as this is the correct information.
    Thanks,

With your printer brand, I would definitely say Please use original brother ink cartridges. Brother printers(to my experience) is the most sensitive on this matter. And, it would not be beneficial in the long run to use replacement cartridge, for this damages the print heads.
There is also no code that you can try, for the error is caused by the faulty non-original cartridge---the printer cant read or verify the genuine status of the cartridge you have installed.

Cyan ink worked until needed to replace that empty cartridge. Now, all colors print but Cyan. I have cleaned inks, blocked eye with tape, cleaned where cartridge goes with warm water (in those holes),...

First do not use cartrigde compatible or refill because you clogged the print head,is verry sensitive. If you try to clean the print head and nothing you need to replace the print head is the only solution, after replace the print head you print all the colors.

NOTE!!! After you replace the print head use only original cartridge brother !!!!

My brother printer not working well

Are you using Genunine Cartridges!!!!

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Cartridges. !!!!!!!!

In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc.

These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors. It also will not let you print anything, if only one of the cartridges is empty.

I wanted to print only Black, and would not let me, because I did not have any ink in one of my cyan cartridges. Go figure.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......

I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. .

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Oh brother

I don't think there is a reset procedure for resetting MFC 3240c cartridges.
Professional refill facilities use a code reset device on cartridges.
Users that want to refill their own cartridges often use a piece of cellotape or plastic bag to cover cartridge sensor. This can damage printers head if ink goes too low and printer keeps printing.
My suggestion: stay away from troubles and buy original cartridges.

Brother mfc MFC-5440CN magenta issues

If you have used generic ink the head is clogged and cant be cleaned anymore.

Last chance is to use original brother ink which has cleaning fluids within the ink. Run the cleaning procedure twice and simply print 10 PAGES afterwards. Wait A DAY AND TRY TO PRINT IN MAG AGAIN:

If there will be no mag. the ph is definitley clogged and needs replacement.

Brother MFC-640CW Replaced Black catridge becomes empty

Compatible carts do make a lot of trouble. One point is the draining! The ink has flown into the cart assy and beyond that to the bottom of the printer. As long as you can print without problems you dont have to do anything. If the test pages wont show the correct color you have to open the printer and to clean the assy and the bottom.

Do use original ink carts though these wont drain and give correct info to printer. You can very simple refill them with dye ink. Dye ink only!!!
