This file contains only information about "where" your photos are on your harddisk. If you moved or deleted them, they cannot be found anymore, and if you emptied your recycle bin, they might be lost forever.

Word docs open with a blank page.

Do your doc open correctly if you open Word first (open Word first, select FILE - OPEN and then the file, the DOC file opens)?

You can also open your word doc with IE or Firefox:
Launch IE, then at the File Menu, choose "Open" and browse to the Word File. You can also try Firefox the same way (or right click the doc and choose open with and find IE)

make sure your text wasn't accidently changed to white-then it would look like a blank page, see if you can highlight the text.

The files may have been saved as Macro enabled docs. Right click on one of the documents, click Save As. Choose Save As a normal doc. The next time you open it, it should open correctly.

This is a tough one

Try opening the saved file in Notepad. Maybe the problem would be obvious. Otherwise, if you paste the content of the file here as text, I could have a look.

Hello,

When you save the image in the 'Save Image' dialog is there a pull down list that says 'Save as file type'? Located just below where you enter the file name. If there is pull it down and select jpg as the file type.

Just load it back in your wife's laptop, open them in Writer and immediately save then as either txt or doc. And for the future you can configure Writer thru the tools-options-load\save to save all the files as doc.

My OS is windows xp professional and my MS office is 2007 version.. people are unable to view the files i send them..especially word and excel.. pls help me

Office 2007 saves files in a new set of formats by default. If you colleagues cannot read these files, likely they are not using software compatible with these formats.

You can save these file in other formats by opening the relevant document in Office 2007 and, under "FILE" click "Save As..." and save the document in a compatible format; .doc instead of .docx, for example.

A document I am working on somehow got changed to rich text format, I don't know how this happened or how to change it back.

If you have Microsoft word on you computer, you may do any one of these steps that you are most comfortable with. First, you may click the document twice to rename it eg "name.doc" insure that you put .doc at the end or you may right click the file and choose open with and select Microsoft word and then go to save as and save it as a word document. Or you can open the file in word-pad and copy the text and paste it in a word document and save it. Rich text format is a Microsoft word-pad document while .doc is a MS word document or now they have .docx.

hope this help you have a great day!

I have not used the trial version of Word 2007 before, but I am assuming that it's the fact it is a trial version it will not let you edit a previously saved Word doc.
What are the indicators/messages about not being able to edit the file. If a message pops up can you post it here verbatim.
Does the file contain a lot of formating - ie, the text has different fonts and sizes for headings and subheads and there are bullet pionts and graphics etc?? If not, are you able to copy all the text off the page and paste it onto another file and save that file - maybe as a text-only file with an extension ".txt". By doing this, you will be able to place that text, in an editable form, into nearly any application that supports text, including the full working "FREE" program OpenOffice.
Please let me know what you think of this and if there is more that we need to do to help you.

Problem using OCR with Canon MP610 all-in-one

I got this message too, before I installed an OCR program. It may be that you need to install one (or specify it, if you have one already). With my MP610, an installation disk was included that contained the OmniPage SE program for OCR. When I installed that on my computer, and told MP Navigator (another Canon-supplied program, that controls scanning) to use it as the "Open With" program for OCR, it worked.

Unable to open e-mail attachment

Open Files with .MSG File Extension Do you want to open a message with the Outlook .MSG file extension? The Encryptomatic MSG File Viewer makes it easy access Outlook MAPI message files (.msg files) created in Outlook 2000/XP/2003.
MSG Viewer reads .msg files encoded in western characters. It will display the text contents of the .msg file on your monitor. You can also print the message, save it to a text file, and extract file attachments.

Easy to Use Encryptomatic's Outlook .MSG Viewer is simple to use. It may be optionally installed as the default .msg file handler. This enables you to display a .msg file by simply double clicking it.
Extracts File Attachments from Outlook .MSG Message Files
Users can extract and save to disk any file attachments that were included in the Outlook .msg file, a useful feature not found in other viewers of this price class. To extract email attachments, just double click on the file attachment and save it to a directory.

viewer-screen.jpg What it Doesn't Do
The MSG Viewer is designed to give you quick access to an .msg file's text contents, file attachments and header information. It does not render colors, formatting or graphics, and it is not a full featured substitute for Outlook. With an RTF message with colored text and font formatting, the text will appear in black and white and the paragraph formatting will be lost (as in the message above). MSG Viewer displays only Western characters.
