You can't just hit the SCAN button on the scanner. It won'd work.
Go in the control panel and click on Scanners & Cameras and you should see the HP icon there. Click it and scan from that menu. The scanner should work if you installed the software correctly.
Here is the correct link for your unit with all the GOOD software if all else fails Download the drivers for your printer and install. ( Uninstall the previous software from Control panel Add/Remove Programs )
Reinstall again the cd installer because its not completely installed.
But you can still use the scanner from your computer and not on the scan button of your printer. Go to the Control Panel....Double click the Scanners & Cameras icon.. Double click the icon of your printer scanner.

do u wish to aks that you are not able to see the scanned document for editing or reusing, if it is so you need to open scanner wizard from my computers where you will find an icon showing scanner and written MP470, just double click on the same and select the required software you want in which your scanned document will open.Please revert for more clarification.

turn on/off, unplug, wait a minute, plug back in, should reset.
go to application folder for your computer, dbl click icon for make of printer, for settings, check to ensure everything is order. go to the scanner settings.

Hello. You will need to reinstall the software by using the installation cd that came with your printer and make sure you include the scan software. If still not getting any progress, uninstall properly by going to Start Menu > Programs > Lexmark Series folder > Tools > Uninstall. Restart the computer. Reinstall the software. Hope this helps. Your printer is bundled with a printer and scanner in 1. But you need to install the two drivers for the device, the Printer driver and the Twain driver or scanner diver. To check if you successfully install the 2 devices, open My Computer Icon if you are using Windows XP or higher, you can see there Imaging devices or the Device name with the scanner icon. If you cant see it, you need to re install the driver, disconnect the USB cord form your PC and reinstall it using the autoplay installation, this installs all the required driver for your device. Plug in the USB of the device if the installer application says Searching for hardware or something, wait until finished.
completely uninstall all software realated to this printer. disconnect your pc from the web. disable your anti virus and firewall then run your fresh install. if you are getting the diver/software from the web save it to your desktop and follow the first dsirections this should solve your problem
