Question about Paragon Vintage 24 Hour Timer Command 12 Sealed In Box

Open Question

I have an older Paragon 24-Hr. Timer Switch, model 4003-OSZ. I'm unable to get timer set to correct position so lights come on/off. I've followed the directions on panel, but it isn't working. I can hear that the unit is on and working, but for some reason, it's not turning lights on/off at specified times. Please help.

SOURCE: why does the motor on my paragon 24 hour timer

How old is it? Most of these timers have two leads that come down to the terminals. This powers the timer motor. Check to be sure these terminals are tight. They are workhorses, but dont' last forever. They make electronic ones now too.

If you purchased timer from ebay, then assume motor is bad or X2772 trippers are worn out.

1) If timer dial is not rotating, then the clock motor has gone bad.
New paragon clock motors are not sold anywhere I know about.

Trippers on paragon 4003 are broken

Paragon 4003 uses x2772 tripper
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html

1) As of November 2010 or before, Paragon is no longer making timers or parts except defrost timers.
4003 is not defrost timer.

2) Do google search for x2772 tripper.
I have seen x2772 tripper selling for more than a new Intermatic timer.

3) Intermatic has cross reference if you want to buy new timer:
http://www.intermatic.com/customer%20service/competitive%20cross%20reference.aspx
For example 4003-00 crossover to Intermatic is T-103
Grainger sells T-103 for $70

4) For T-103 wiring:

5) Add a comment with specific model number if you want more help finding replacement timer, or need crossover wiring.

I have a 4003 osz time clock and it does not turn lights on and off. Where can I get new insides for the same box.

As of November 2010 or before, Paragon is no longer making timers or parts except Defrost timers.
4003 0SZ is not a defrost timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html

0SZ suffix appears to be 120Volt astronomic time clock that turns ON at Dusk and OFF at Dawn
4003 is DPST 120Volt 40 amp mechanical timer

MR Supply sells 7200

Intermatic mechanical astronomic clocks:
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/mechanical%20time%20switches/astronomic.aspx
These time clocks are Indoor-outdoor and can control 3 different 120V Loads, for example store light in front, outdoor light in back, and outdoor sign. All Loads turn on-off at same time.
Beverly Hills shows the V4547r

Intermatic also makes electronic astronomic time pieces where voltage is selectable, with many timing options (programming is detailed and complicated):
http://www.intermatic.com/products/timers/electronic%20time%20switches/astronomic%20electronic.aspx
NEMA1 is indoor box
NEMA 3R is indoor-outdoor box.
SPST means timer can control 1 Load
SPDT can control 2 120V Loads
1000 Bubs sells the ET8115C

Add a comment for more free help, for example a question about a specific model or about cross-over wiring. I have experience with wiring diagrams and experience with some different models.

NEED TO REPLACE A PARAGON MODEL 4001 24 HOUR TIME SWITCH WITH KNOCK OUT FOR CONDUIT CONNECTION ON TOP

Paragon 4001 is 120Volt SPST indoor timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html

I've never seen knock-outs for these timers on top because the timing mechanism is in the way.

Turn timer sideways, the timing mechanism still works.

Pointer "B" was moved, contrary

http://waterheatertimer.org/Paragon-timers-and-manuals.html

The link above shows all the Paragon timers.
If you have the Paragon 4000 mechanical timer, then the pointer is at the 8:00 position.
To set current time, you lift and rotate white dial until current time lines up with the 8:00 position
If this is not your timer, then add a comment with your timer and model number and I'll look it up.
