Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

Bosch Dishwasher I have just moved into my flat where there is a Bosch dishwaher installed in the kitchen. I have tried on a number of times to get the dishwasher to start a programme but for some reason it fails to start. It does switch on but I dont know how to operate it. I dont have a manual for it so have not a clue what to press to get the programmes running. I would be grateful if you could help. Bosch Dishwasher logixx Model Number SGS6952GB/13 Installed 2001

Dear Saps,
Go to https://portal.bsh-partner.com/portal(bD1kZSZjPTAwOQ==)/PORTALFRAME.HTM for a pdf download for an Intruction Handbook.

If this refuses to open go to http://www.boschappliances.co.uk/boschuk2007/en/downloads/downloads.htm and follow pages to get your machines handbook.

Dishwasher trips out as soon as switched on

Sounds like you have a dead short, perhaps in the motor.
Please do not attempt to start it as it might catch fire.
Someone needs to pull it out form the counter and find out the problem for you.
Sorry!
Be Blessed.

I have a shu43 bosch dishwasher and the whole machine is dead. No power. The circuit breaker is good but I would have to pull the dishwaher out to check the outlet. Is there an internal fuse?

There is no internal fuse (at least I've not seen or replaced any) on Bosch dishwashers. The most typical problems for Bosch are: 1) one of the power cord connections to the internal wiring is corroded and doesn't make a contact; or 2) the power button has failed.

The number one is so far the most common problem. To check: Turn off the power to the dishwasher by any means necessary. Remove the kick panel on the bottom. There should be a small metal box with power cord and 2 or 3 wires coming into it. Remove screw(s) holding the cover on that box. There should be 2 or 3 wires connected to the power cord wires by wire nuts. Any burnt insulation or wire nut will be the problem area. Cut burnt wires, remove 1/2" of insulation and clean of both connecting wires to bare copper. If you have an electrical contact grease - apply to copper. Install new wire nut.

Good luck,

Dishwaher not draining

apart from cleaning the filters at the bottom, have you checked if the kitchen drain is not clogged. Also if you have a garbage disposal unit in the kitchen sink, make sure it has been run before you turn on the dishwasher. Will be helpful if you can describe the problem with details of the dishwasher and also which wash cycles have you tried and list any alarms lights on the panel of dishwasher.

I cannot be sure of the make/model - there is no power

It sounds like you have a bad controller which is an expensive part if it is over five years old. However, there is a recall on some Bosch dishwashers which involves replacing the control. If you call Bosch at 1-800-944-2904 they can tell you if your model is involved in the recall.

Bosch wont

Faulty inlet valve or water in the bottom tray which will activate the float swich and pump out any water. See that this moves up and down freely. Turn electrics off first.

Hotpoint dishwaher

I've got a hotpoint dishwasher too with the same problem.. I'm going to have a crack at opening it up this evening to see if I can find the fault. It looks like corrosion on some of the wires can be a common cause for this. Will report back. Mark.
