    ok follow the steps
    you will see start button in the left hand (bottom)from where you use to shut down the pc.
    click on start-then click on run, you will get a space in run to type just type "msconfig"(without the quotes)and press ok then you get system configuration utility, on that screen just click on startup then you will get a list of programe with tick mark,just go to below and click on disable all then click on apply then click on ok.
    close the system configuration utility and you will get the message for rebooting just click to confirem and your pc will reboot,after rebooting just click on mesage you get and again you reboot and see the problem is solved or not.
    post for any help

As long as it is enabled in system devices, windows xp pro will not shut down. it acts like a restart when told to shutdown. disabling or unpluggin the wusb54gc allows the computer to work normally again....

Hi,

this is a strange problem. if a network card or wireless card hinder proper shutdown of your pc. then you can try to update the driver of the cards. in your case, it is a linksys wireless. you can also remove the card and reseat it well in the slot. another troubleshooting guide, you can start in safe mode with network support and see if shutdown is normal.

I have 2 acer data managerment problem found in edata security software installation it says please close all running programs and reinstall edats security. the second one is catalyst control center is not...

> please close all running programs and reinstall edats security.

Close programs (word-processor, web-browser).
Click Start
Click Control Panel
Click Classic View
Click Add/Remove Programs
Click on EDATS SECURITY (or something approximately that)
Click Remove
Click OK
Shutdown
Restart
Reinstall the software

> catalyst control center is not supported by the friver [?]
> version of your enabled graphics adapter.

ATI (www.ati.com) distributes the "Catalyst" software with their adapter video-cards. So, there is a problem with the "Control Center" component of their software.

> please update your ati graphics,
> or enable your ati adapter using displays manager

First, do you have an add-in video-card in your computer?
If not, then you should not be trying to use the ATI software,
and you should remove it:
* click Start
* click Control Panel
* click Add/Remove Programs
* select the ATI Catalyst software
* click Remove
* restart your computer

Second, if you have added an ATI card, you may need to restart your computer, press DELETE to enter BIOS SETUP, and "disable" the "onboard" video-adapter, or change the video-priority so that the ATI video-card becomes the "primary" video-adapter, and the onboard video-adapter becomes the "secondary" video-adapter.
Then, click Save Changes, and before selecting Exit From Setup,
move the video data-cable from the onboard VGA port to the VGA port on the ATI video-adapter. Then, "blindly", click Exit, and let your computer restart. Then, during the reboot, the ATI software will recognize the new "primary" video-card, and will the software will control the ATI video-hardware.

Sometimes, it helps to have a second computer monitor, and connect one adapter to the "onboard" VGA-port, and the other to the ATI VGA-port, so that you can see video output wherever it is produced.
