It is possible that the compressor oil had pumped into the system and is thereby causing problems in the heat exchange cycle.
Put the fridge off and keep it standing for more than 24 hours to allow the oil to come back to the compressor.
After the time limit put the fridge on and watch the noise of the compressor to be pumping earnestly with a good whining. If not check onthe main capacitor or relay( if clicking).
If there is no ICe formation in about 2 hours, it is possible that the compressor is weak , gas is leaked and needs an overhauling.

The top section, fridge, is freezing up, we only had it 3 days

Read somewhere that refrigerators are not supposed to be transported on their sides - that they are supposed to be moved in an upright position and that if you have transported it like that you are supposed to let it stand upright for about 8 hours before using it.

Just had delivered a logic fridge freezer 6months old is it safe to use straight away

If the fridge was transported standing up, it is safe to use right away. If it was transported on its side, I would wait 24 hours.

Fridge not cooling. Shifted house 2 days back. Before it was alright.

Your fridge systems under chocked. Whenever transport refrigerant unit you should not lift down wards on suction side which will lead compressor oil thr' discharge line. When compressor on, it will pump the oil.It get chocked on filter drier resulting to no cool.

Solution. Remove all gas, and also filter drier. Now flush out condenser side separate and evaporator side separately. Then replace filter drier and vacuum the system. Now do gas charging. Thanks. helpful?

The fridge isn't cooling though the freezer half is working fine. It was recently transported quite a distance in its side (well braced and padded), and left to stand 20 hours before being plugged in. We...

There are 2 reasons. While transporting if they lifted with won wards to discharge side, chances are there to oil entering. And while switch on it starts pumping the oil.Secondly, chance for gas leak.
It's advisable to remove gas and check for leak. If no leak, flush out the system and replace drier.
Vacuum and do gas charging. Please write if it's helpful.

I am moving and need to lay the fridge on its side, but have been told you cannot do so, is this correct?

You do not want to lay that refrigerator on its side because the refrigerant will leave the compressor and fill the system with liquid refrigerant where it should only be existing in a gaseous state, and if the refrigerator is tilted far enough over or lay-ed onto its side then the refrigerator will have to stand up-right and un-plugged for at least 24 hours before the liquid refrigerant will settle back down where it belongs, and then the refrigerator should actually function again if there was no other damage caused when moving the unit.

Fridge in storage for 4 yrs, now not cooling

Good day,
After that much time, be sure the fan motor in the freezer compartment is running, as well as the fan motor on the back bottom behind the cover by the compressor. Either could well have frozen up after 4 years of storage.
As well a refrigerant leak could have developed because of the time frame. However, if it is less then 5 years old, the sealed system would still be under factory warranty.

Fridge will not cool down

Since it has been two weeks that you have posted this, you probably have a cold unit by now, but if it was ever transported horizontally, they are supposed to stand unused for a couple of days before you try to run them. The coolant system has lubricants in it that may drain from the compressor where they are needed and require a little quiet time to recover.

Kenmore fidge not getting cold

transporting fridge items on the side mixes up the oil and the gas together, inside the compressor bottle at the back, this should never be mixed, when you move fridge appliances you should always stand appliance where it is going to be for 24 hours before switching back on to allow the gas and oil to settle and separate back apart again. many engineers may tell you this does not matter and you can lay items down etc, this is absolute bull and must not be done as for allowing it to stand 24 hours, the opinion is mixed, but common sense tell you, if you move something, let it settle afterwards, and the longer you give it to do so the better OBVIOUSLY sorry there is no diy repair
