Did you set the correct time while you where in the bios?
You may also have a virus infection that is messing with your system time/date settings to prevent your security programs from updating.
IF you cant start even in safe mode, you may need to try a live linux distro to scan your computer.
There are special live distros that are just for this very occasion.

The problem is that your motherboard BIOS is too old and doesn't properly recognize the CPU, even though they are compatible. You need to update the BIOS.
This one will do the trick.

You are on the right track... although one other thing you may try is replacing the RAM.... Bad RAM can cause random weird errors such as your describing.

What type of HDD is this? IDE; SATA; or SATA II? The problem probably is that you are trying to use a SATA drive with a SATA II board. They are not backwards compatible. Hope this helps.

Go to ASUS downloadsite, the link above, in the box up to the left where it says "Input model To Search" put in P5VD2-MX, you will now recive 2 MoBos, chose the one you have, press enter, you will now be asked to chose OP, chose XP, all the drivers will now apear for you. Chose them you want, download them and instal them. I recomend you to instal them all since i belive that some of the drivers on your pc is old, thats why you getting that error message.
