I have compaq presario V3000 model when i open the the laptop only at one position display comes if i have to work i have to hold the screen portion and adjest it so that the it can display properly. how can i fix the problem what went wrong.

try to put the windows installer, and re-install again your OS.. format the drive and install a fresh copy of windoes..

It's the controller for the light inside the screen.
The backlight in the screen is a high voltage device that needs the inverter to boost the voltage up enough to trigger the light to come on.
Usually if the inverter goes wrong you will only get a really dim display on the screen.

the problem might be from the screen or the screen bulb.

Connect your laptop to an external monitor and see if any display will come up.

If there is a display, then the problem is either from your screen or from the screen board, or screen bulb.

I would advice that you take your laptop to a repairer so that the fault can be rectified.

The model "V3000" is a generic term for a bunch of different models. To make sure you get the right drivers for your specific model, start at HP's site here and pick yours from the list. Then pick the Windows XP operating system and you'll find the drivers they have for download.

Try using the function key for your display options

You should see a key related to your function key, generally a different color then the rest, labeled (F, Fun, FN, etc...) then look for a CRT/LCD, or LCD, or a symbol of a rounded square, or something resembling a monitor or screen.

Hold Fn and press that button, give it a few seconds. It should switch.

You can also hold a flash light up to the screen and see if there's any image, if this is the case then parts need to be replaced.

It miight be the backlight for this unit. It all depends on whether the screen came with the backlight. There is a remote chance that the display circuitry on the motherboard is faulty too. Try to plug a monitor into the VGA port and check to see if it is dim there too.

remove the battery and try to start the machine om AC power only
