OK, firstly you will need to find out if your previous phone is locked to a specific network. If you have already determined that, you will need to do the following.
Firstly, you will need to go to the service provider on with the phone is locked. Ask them for your network unlock key, type in the code with the instruction given.
This should do the trick.
