If your laptop is out of warranty, then try dis-assembling your laptop on the lcd part by using precision screws/flat head drivers. Just look for a little space/on corners to pop it open after removing the screws. Then just reseat the cable connecting from the motherboard to the lcd. Then try to see if the vertical line is still present.
