Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

Open Question

Hi there! The system: The old 40BG fat model The problem(s): - My playstation totally freezes, when trying to access the PS store. I'm still able to log in with my user/account properly, though (I get the ''signed in'' notation). I'm also able to browse the web normally. The freezing happens when I click the PS store icon, or download history etc. related to the store. -When trying to start a game, everything goes as normally until I get a message saying: ''Error 80010514, could not load trophy information'' (about). I can still see the game running in the background, playing eg. the penalty tutorial in WC2010, which is on before the game actually ''starts''. The history/ what I've already done trying to get the system working properly: The problem started with the PS store freeze alone. I didn't pay that much attention to the matter, since I don't use the store all that much. I was able to do everything else normally, including playing games online and using PS home etc. After a while I got sick of the problem and decided to use the recovery menu options 3. Restore File System and 4. Rebuild Database. This didn't fix the problem, so I backed-up some of my savegame files and opted for the ''restore PS3 system'', again with no luck. Then I got mad off the problem and decided to leave the PS store alone, again. I got a heureka moment, when I realized that I didn't have the latest firmware installed, and figured that maybe this is why the whole thing freezes. So I downloaded and installed the latest firmware (3.42), but still the problem was there. But after the update, I got the infamous 80010514-error code, stating the trophy problem mentioned above, when I tried to play a game. I tried to sync the trophy information with the server, but it didn't help. I also created a new user/account, but no change. I did some googling with the error code and it seemed, that it maybe caused by a hard-drive malfunction of some kind, and I replaced the old drive with a new 500GB drive. Still with the same results - no improvement. (I've also tried different internet connections, wired and wireless, two different IP's and even used an open DNS) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So I was wondering, is there anything I can do to fix this problem? Is there something I could erase the PS3's ''own'' memory (flash memory I guess?) with? To me it seems, that there is something wrong with the OS or something like that, since replacing the hard-drive didn't work and the blu-ray drive is working just fine. Thanks, -Konsta ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Update Now I only get the 80010514 error code when trying to sync the trophys (though I have none with the current user). This happens once, but after trying again it doesn't appear anymore. If I reboot the console it does the same thing: First time - error code, 2nd-infinite time - no error. When the game loads, in place of the 80010514 error code I get a new one, 8002B105 stating the trophy thingie as before.

SOURCE: it says error 80010514

Hi

This ia a known error with the ps3 and unfortunately is not that easy to fix. Sony simply have the following to say about this error

"Error 80010514 - Issue reading Disks"

If this error is showing on more than one disk then the problem lies in the blueray drive itself which has become faulty. Sony are advising that these ps3's which are showing this persistant error need to be returned for service. Expected cost is around $150 if your unit is outside warranty.

For information on how to return your unit see this link

Many thanks for using FixYa.

Not allowed access to in game playstation store to purchase bonus packs

Most likely because the servers are down. A game like this, that game out 3 years ago, wouldn't have the store or multiplayer servers still running. You can try searching for DLC directly through PS store, but as far as through the in game menu, it's not going to happen.

It is because It is because fat partitions dont suupport manupulation of files bigger than 4 gb. Convert it to ntfs and it will work. And you might wonder that it worked for 15 min. ISo when you play a game lots of cache is generated and size of game is nearly doubled so this causes problem on a fat partition. And on

I can't access the playstation network, Netflix, or PS store but I can access the Internet. I have wifi and my iPhone works fine. When I try to log in it says "connection with PS network timed out

Turn the playstation off and then back on. You have to be connected to PSN to play Netflix and connect to the PS Store--is something maybe wrong with your username/password?

PS 2 new and old games keep freezing

It needs a new laser... it's a pretty common issue with older PS2s. The lasers simply eventually wear out after time. You can get a new laser for the older PS2s at the following website:

The proccessor is probably being over loaded. Try deleting some of your unused files. If that doesnt work do a system restore which will delete all files except your operating system

I recently got a new wep for my connection. I tried changing it in my network settings, but it said it had an error. Now when I try to change it the system freezes and all I can do is turn it off. It's...

Possibly because the network was shut down today by playstation for maintenance. PS3 slim models are not affected by the bug but playstation suggests even if you have a slim model to stay signed out for now until they can repair the network and to try not to download anything from the PS store because there is a possibility the data you download will become corrupt and will not let you redownload.Chances are your network is fine just gotta wait until the Network is back up and running on Playstation's side.
