Question about Compaq Evo N620c Notebook

2 Answers

Won't fully turn on, orange flashing light.

I have a compaq evo n620c. I get home from work and my stepbro is playing WoW and suddenly it turns off on him not too long after I walk into my room. I turned it back on after that and you can hear that it's on but the screen is still black and blank. The LED light that looks like a rectangle with an arrow pointing to it is flashing on and off with an orange light. I don't hear any beeps which I would believe that it has nothing to do with the motherboard itself ((Or so my computer repair classes have told me))

Keep in mind that it's plug into a surge protector. ((I don't have a battery for it))

I tried moving to a different outlet upstairs and still he same thing.

Anyone know what's going on with it?

Would it be worth taking it in for repair if that's all that will fix it? Any help would be appreciated.

Compaq n620c evo laptop

Check your floppy drive and see if there's a disk in it and remove it. If there is no diskette in the floppy drive and you are still getting the error. You can go into the Bios and turn off the "boot from floppy drive", that way it will not look for the floppy drive when booting up. Hope this helps.

Cannot locate ram on compaq EVO N620c

The RAM is located under a panel on the LHS of the touchpad.
You need a thin blade/knife to slip under this panel to lift it up and out. It is clipped in with plastic catches on the panel.

Bios menu

Most Compaq units use the F10 key to enter the BIOS shut off your notebook if it is in hibernation though you may have to shut it down fully by pressing on the stand by power button and pulling at the power notch they should be located at both sides near the hinges of the screen if this does not work remove batteries this will surely bring your notebook to shut down. replace batteries then press power then press the F10 as soon as the Compaq logo comes out. Hope this works some Compaq models nee to be realy shut down before the F10 could be accessed

Turn wireless on

Try the function key and F2. If that is not it then look for a key that has a wireless icon on it(looks like a tower with waves coming off of it). The F2 key is the one on similar models.

Hope this helps!
