While directly connected to your router by an Ethernet cable type 192.168.0.1 into your browser window(Internet Explorer/Firefox). You will then be directed to a sign in page for the router. If this information has not been changed it should be the following: username: admin and password: password(both will be in lowercase letters). If you are unable to get signed in with this information and do not know the username and password then you will need to press the reset button on the back of the router for 5-10 seconds. Then this username and password will work. After getting signed into the router you will then click wireless setting on the left side. This page will should you the all of your network information including the name, security information and the password which will be listed as either passphrase or key. The passphrase or key will be the password you will enter once you select your network name to connect to. This following link has the full manual for your Netgear router in case you do not have it. I have bought this equipment, and i wish to make a secure connection and add other laptops and computers. but everytime i do so, i loose the connection, i wish to use the wi-fi protected set up

If you want to use secure wireless connection just use WEP or WPA security encription for wireless. Protected set up does not do this. This is for in house laptop connections. In the wireless tap of your netgear choose manual set up or wireless security option and then choose WEP or WPA option. You will have to make a key and put this key in to every wireless device in house. Hope this helps.

This is a link to manual for your router.

I need the security key to my existing wireless netgear router.

The Security Key is normally used for Wireless routers to protect your connection from any unauthorized use. As you have said that you do not have the Security key for your router with you, the best way to connect your ACER laptop to the Netgear router is by asking your Wireless service provider to reset the security key & freshly reentering the same on both of your HP & ACER laptops.

These are some reasons why your new Hp laptop can't connect through your Netgear Router is because your Router has a security that used a password to connect to your router or the ip address of your desktop and Dell laptop is already setup to the router to work with internet.

You can learn how to setup your router easily.

I purchased a new laptop and when trying to set up the netgear it ask for the security code, where is that at?

Did you have the netgear before you bought the new laptop?
If so all you need is the wireless key - which you should have written down.
There is no need to set up the netgear again as it is already doing its job. You set up the computer to talk to the netgear.

Netgear WG111 doesn't see D-Link DIR-655 wireless network

Hi Joe,

I would suggest you to change the wireless channel on the Dlink and use the channel on which WG111 will scan and connect to your network. Also, plese make sure to use the security encryption on the DLINK to WEP or WPA only. Using higher security like WPA2 will cause issues with this adapter.

Have lost/can't remember the security code to wirelessly connect to my netgear DG 834G

Paul.

Can you connect to the router via ethernet?

If so assuming you havent changed the routers address connecting to 192.168.0.1 from your web browser should get you into your routers admin page.

Once you have entered the user name and password click the Wireless link from teh main menu where you will be able to see the relevent key and or change it if required.

If you need the manuals you can download from here.

Netgear Router WGR614 will not connect to internet

Hi,
Looks like when you reset the router you have lost all yur configuration and back to the default factory settings.

Bridge the 5100 first.
1. In your web browser browse to »192.168.0.1 This address will be located on a yellow sticker on the bottom of your modem.

2. The first screen will ask you for your Modem Access Code. This also will be located on the same yellow sticker.

3. Select Advanced from the blue buttons on the left.

4. Click the PPP locations button.

5. The modem may ask your for the Modem Access Code again. If so type it in again and click continue.

6. Select the radio button labeled, "Bridged Mode (PPPoE is not used)"

7. Click Save Changes.

8. A "PPP Location Warning" page will come up. Click "Change PPP Location."

9. A "Restart Needed" page will come up. Click "Restart"

10. Reboot your computer and and then connect the router

11.Configure the router for PPPoE using your ISP uid/pass

12.Configure your wireless using WEP

13.Desktop : Using Dell wireless client configure the client using the same SSID ,wep as configured in the router
Laptop : follow the same as desktop

(by default dell wirelesss client takes over the wireless configuration in dell pc.to disable it and use windows wireless client..control panel ->administrative tools -> services -> enabl2 wireless zero configuration)

14.after all configuration shut the desktop, laptop, router, mdm and pwr them in seg..first modem and then router and then your desktop or laptop

Cheers !!!
