Sony Hi8 Camcorder Menu Wheel is

Hi, I have a Sony camcorder Hi8 model CCD-TR748E. It has a menu wheel which is s rotating disk. You rotate the wheel to select menu options in the viewfinder. It is a bit loose and the menu items jump around. To select menu items you push the wheel in to select. I took the camera apart and it is soldered to the PCB and is replacable. I have surface mount re-work gear. I am looking for the part number from Sony for the small menu wheel assembly. Do you know the P/N for the wheel?
Thanks

    Hi Ekse,
I found the menu wheel is on a PCB and I have the PCB sub assembly P/N. It looks like I need to buy the board complete with the wheel.
    Thanks.

Basicly you need to get your hands into a service manual to find out the part number. Sony has these manuals I don't know if they sell them or not.

I beleave this is it

I would suggest to contact Sony and ask them for that particular part(s).
The only way to know the part number will be if you have the service manual.
I was trying to find a site for a free download, but nothing came up.

You need to get it replaced from on of the sony authorized service center, The wheel might not be costing much but the labour will be around $100.

Cannot playback hi8 ccd trv107e pal

Dirty video head! Playback newly opened blank tape for five minutes, after that eject, reinsert, playback then eject again five times, these will serve as your video head cleaner, never use "video head cleaning cassette tape" for it will only damage your camera. Most camera has built in video head cleaner installed inside and activates only when you insert, initial play/rec, and ejects a tape. If the problem is still there you need pro fix then.[:0)

Not reading Hi8 tapes

Fidus, I am not sure where you are located but the camcorder you're trying to use now is a PAL version of Sony's 8mm camcorder. If the tapes you recorded earlier were recorded in D8 (digital 8) or 8mm/Hi8 format NTSC, they will not play correctly in this unit. The NTSC and PAL formats are different and not compatible. Hope this helps you. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
