Remove the device from within the device manager ... reboot your computer ... reboot the router as well. You May have to hardreser the router ... look for the little hole ... put a paper clip inside and depress the button ... holding for 30 seconds. check for driver updates.

Forgot how to put a new computer on my router that is locked

go to the router's setup page from the working PC. it usually accessible using browser. type http://IP address of the router (go to Start-Run-CMD-type ipconfig hit enter on the working pc and look for default gateway to check the IP address of the router- it is 192.168.2.1 by default).

It will prompt you to enter the username and password. type your router's password.

If you are trying to add a computer, check for MAC Filtering if it is enabled and make sure to add the MAC address of your new computer (Go to Start-Run-type CMD then hit enter- and type ipconfig/all and check for Physical Address). This physical address is the MAC address of the computer.

I have a Linksys Wireless G WRT54G Router version 5 and I lost my setup disk and cannot access the internal web based setup and Iv done everything Iv read to do and now its not even showing up as a...

Hi there. No need to run the setup CD. Check the IP address first to see if the computer is communicating with the router. Go to command prompt (if XP, simply click start then go to run and type in CMD and hit ok. A black screen will pop up. Type in IPCONFIG then enter. Check the IP address and default gateway (by default, the router's IP is 192.168.1.1 which will show as the default gateway). Launch internet explorer and type in the default gateway on the address bar. (No www). If you cant pull out the page. Go back to the black screen (START>RUN>CMD) and type in ping (default gateway) ex. ping 192.168.1.1 there is a space between ping and the default gateway. If you got 4 replies you should be able to access the router's page if not, reset the router by pressing and holding the reset button of the router (usually it is the red hole at the back of the router along with the ethernet ports) for 30 seconds. After 30 sec, power off the router (unplug at the back)never release the reset button and wait another 30 sec then plug the power back in and wait another 30 sec before releasing the reset button. You should be able to access the page then. Go back to the black screen (START>RUN>CMD) then do again a ping test. type in again ping and then the default gateway. (ex. ping 192.168.1.1). You should be able to access the setup page now.

hello.. u can setup ur router even there is no setup disc.. check first the default gateway of ur router by connecting your computer directly to the router using an ethernet cable.. to check the ip gateway, click on start, run and type cmd, it will give u a dos prompt, from there type ipconfig/all and check the default gateway,ex.. the default is 192.168.1.1, close the dos prompt and pull up the internet brower from the url.. type in 192.168.1.1 and it will ask the username and password.. u need to enter it, by default the username is admin and the password, just leave it blank, if didnt work try 1234.

Never done this befor

You have to access configuration it via your internet browser at http://192.168.1.1 - unless your default gateway is different then the above address.

You can also check the default login passwords with this file

To check for default gateway address:
1- go to start button
2- Vista: type cmd
XP _--> run box type cmd
3- once in cmd.exe type:
ipconfig /all

you should see address for default gateway here.
