SOURCE: Front sprocket

Hi ........... One tooth less will give you more top speed (if you can pull top revs) but will reduce accelleration. If you go for one tooth less you'll need to tighten the chain and/or remove a link. It's a trade off ............ decide what you want the bike to do.

SOURCE: I need spreader setting to do 2.3 pounds per 1000

If the product you are planning on applying has a spreader setting for a Scotts SpeedyGreen, or specifically for the SpeedyGreen 3000; you can that recommendation in your Edgeguard Deluxe Spreader. If they do not have a suggested spreader setting for the SpeedyGreen, or SpeedyGreen 3000 settings then this question would best be answered by calling Scotts directly @ 1-800-543-8873. One of our associates would be happy to assist you further.

We do have a general rule, called the 50 by 20 rule which will allow you to use any product in any spreader, but there is some work that will need to be done.

* Weigh out and Place enough material in the hopper to cover 1,000 sq. ft. (In your case 2.3 pounds)

* Place the spreader setting on a low setting (Usually one-fourth of the spreader setting range or less. In your case i would suggest about 2.75 or 3)

* Spread the material over a 50 x 20 ft. area (This is 1,000 sq. ft.).

* If material is left over, you will need to increase the setting accordingly

* If they you up short, you will need to decrease the setting.

SOURCE: What would be the setting to cover 4 pounds of

Unfortunately, because granular products come in many different particle s and densities, there is no way to determine a universal pounds per thousand spreader setting. The only solution would be to do a 50 foot by 20 foot test. The 50 by 20 rule will allow you to determine an appropriate pounds per thousand rate for any product in anyspreader, but there is some work that will need to be done. *Weigh out and Place enough material in the hopper to cover 1,000 sq. ft. (Inyour case 4 pounds) *Place the spreader setting on a low setting about 1/4 of the way open. * Apply the 4 pounds of material over a 50 x 20 ft. area (This is 1,000 sq. ft.). *If material is left over, you are underapplying, and will need to increase the setting accordingly; before applying to the remainder of the lawn *If you come up short, you are over applying and you will need to decrease the setting; before applying to the remainder of the lawn

SOURCE: I have lost my instructions

Below is a list of spreader settings. You may want to call Scotts at 800-543-8873 and verify the product you are using is able to be used in a hand held spreader.

  • For fine grass seed (blue, rye, fescue) use setting 1
  • For coarser seed (tall fescue) use setting 2
  • For light fertilizer (Scotts fertilizers at a regular rate) use setting 3
  • For heavy fertilizer (Scotts fertilizers at a heavy setting) use setting 4
  • For pelletized fertilizer and ice melt products use setting 5

How can I lower my bike?

Fit a shorter suspension, maybe? Is it possible to attach the front fork 1-2 inch lower? You could mount a smaller wheel at the back, but the whole gearbox will be "shorter". If so you can keep the original gear ratios by mounting a smaller rear sprocket. The ratios of wheel diameters and teeth numbers should be the same, especially for a 125. Ask a mechanic.

I have a model 33 John Deere manure spreader that has the beater gear box with worn gears that won't engage. I cannot get replacement gears due to age of unit. Is there a way to repair the gears by we

There is no way to repair a worn gear, this is due to the heat treating of the metal to toughen it against wear and tear of use, otherwise it wouldn't last but a few hours of operation, this precise heat treating of the steel can only be done with special equipment and requires special skills to pull off correctly, so no you will need to get new gears. I know from personnel experience that you can get parts for these old farm implements, call around and see what you can find out. I will say that worn gears are not the common reason for hard gear engagement, that would be worn shift dogs and synchro ring cones or worn gear shaft bearings.

Spreader propeller doesnt turn when i push it

I would think it is either it is stripped or loose gears or the roll pin which holds the impeller to the rod is missing. those things happen on the industrial spreaders I use at work.

Losing power in last gear

If all other gears are doing okay then I would check with your local dealers parts department and ask the number of teeth on the counter sprocket and on the rear sprocket on a stock dtr 250. The prior owner may have mounted a larger counter sprocket and / or a smaller rear sprocket on the bike. The drive ratio may be out of range such that the engine is trying to make for a really high top speed but just doesn't have the strength to do it.

Please rate this solution. Thanks.
