Question about Zanussi Ovens

2 Answers

The bottom oven on my Zanussi ZUQ875 keeps tripping the mains fuse box after about 30 seconds of being switched on. The Top part of the oven works fine. We had changed the bulb in the oven as it was not working, it is now, but only for those few seconds. Any ideas?

Nothing was changed until after the problem started. It had been working fine for the last 12 months or more, the all of a sudden it stopped.

It trips the breaker after the main oven has been on for around 20-30 seconds. The light is on but it is hard to tell in such a short time if the oven is actually starting to heat up.

Sorry Guru, I have tried it by only turning the oven light on and it does not trip.

Need to explore this, but I a sure it is pointing at the right direction

Does it trip the breaker when you turn the light on only? Or when is the breaker tripping?

Hello,
Fuses usually indicate problems, elsewhere in the circuit. If the fuses were the correctly rated ones and I am assuming they are then you may have a bad short somewhere in the oven, were the elements you just replaced EXACT replacements, if the element provides a higher load this would most certainly destroy a fuse.

Hope this will help in solving, take care.....

I have a Zamussi ZUQ875 double oven. I have just replaced the bottom oven element after it went bang. Nothing tripped out but the digital display has gone out and cannot get main oven to work because

i suspect that you did cut power to the oven when you replaced the element. therefore the oven needs to be reset as new. there are quite a few pages of instructions on setting the timer so be prepared if you are going to to proceed with this "little" project.
I was able to locate your manual online here:http://kitchen.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/zanussi/zuq_875.html?idRes=625295

I suggest unplugging it for a few minutes...then plugging it back in. Hopefully if the electrical is good you will see the oven's timer flashing. then you can proceed with the instructions from page 7.
Otherwise, you may have a blown a short and should get a licensed electrician to look at it.
Another option would be to contact the manufacturer:service.eid@electrolux.ie

Or, find the bloke that installed it and invite him over for dinner and maybe he'll notice it's not working and will fix it for free! ;-)
Good luck mate!

The oven was on and working..then the electric tripped and all power went off...after putting the switch back up on the fuse box everything on the oven started working but it does not get...

This tutorial will show you how to check your Zanussi element and how to replace your Zanussi cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Zanussi manual.
If you're Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Bottom oven not heating up

If it is a fan assisted electric oven and the fan is working o/k, and the temp indicator lamp is lit, then you need to replace the oven element, located at rear of oven compartment behind removeable cover.

Recently wired a double oven with isolator switch

Hi, there's definitely a electrical problem.
First, use the bottom oven only for about 15 minutes and check if it doesn't trip.
Second, use just the grill (top oven) for about 15 minutes and check if it doesn't trip.
The reason is sometimes grill elements are corroded and only trip after a few minutes.
Also, if both ovens work ok on their own, then it could be your fuse box not strong enough, or the isolator switch fuse be only 13amp. If your oven is more than 3Kw (check the label on the door for info) then you need a 30amp fuse to hold when both ovens are on.
Cheers

Bottom oven not working

A tripped breaker or blown fuse on an electric oven or cook-top, combined with an element that has stopped working, is usually a sign of a shorted, then blown (if the fuse or breaker no longer fail) element.

If you know how to use an ohmeter, you can pull the element, disconnect the wires from each end, then measure the resistance between each end of the element, and each element to the outer sheath.

A good element has just a few ohms of resistance between the wire connection points, and infinite resistance from the wire connection points to the outer sheath. Any readings other than that means the element is bad and need's to be replaced.

Fan oven on zanussi electric cooker does not heat up

From symptons, I would say the fan oven element is faulty, more so if the fan is working. Remove inner rear panel of oven and see if element gets warm, let it run for a minute, switch off and feel if element is warm, if not, then replace.the element.
Plz rate this solution.
Thanks.
