Question about Motorola Mobility RAZR V3

1 Answer

Ringtone problem suddenly phone has changed assigned ringtones for a couple of people in my address book--I have assigned speciific ringtones to family members so I know who's calling. Ringtones are homemade mp3 files and have worked great, are still there except when trying to edit the contact info. Phone shows "none" for ringer ID and when trying to change this, it lists all the default ringtones and only the first homemade ringtone and will allow me to assign it as the ringtone but if I try to go on down as if the list continues it closes the action and goes back to the main home screen that whos the clock, AT &T logo, etc. So far, I have noticed this on just 2 contacts and have checked a few others and they are fine. The way I even noticed it was that the phone was laying on the counter and began vibrating and not ringing and it was my daughter and her ringtone is "Rocktop" because she is a grad student at UT at KNoxville. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Forgot to mention this is a V3 razr about 1 1/2 yrs old....

My razr doesn't have any options that are like that. As I posted later, it is about 1 1/2 years old and is from AT&T. What I don't understand is that it's been working fine for months and suddenly changed without me doing anything and deleting and re adding the contact and trying to assign the ringtone hasn't worked. The ringtones are still there and will play--it makes no sense to me. Thanks for trying!

Hey,
U can only assign any mp3 ringtones only if it is placed in Phone memory. U need to make phone memory as default storage device. U can do it by going to options when in multimedia->pics/sounds/video clips.

Different ring tones

To assign individual ring tones:

1) you must go to the phone book, highlight the wanted contact, click on options and then edit.
2) scroll down until you see the section "ringtone" and click on it.
3) Then choose audio, then ringtones. click on the ringtone you want, you must listen to it first, and then click on "select".
4) if you want a ringtone to be something you've recorded, click on "my voice" rather than "ringtones"

Change ringtone on cect i9

1. At the main menu, select “Settings”
2. Now select “User profiles”
3. In the next menu, select “General”
4. Now “Customize”
5. Select “Tone setup”
6. Choose which SIM (on dual SIM card phones) you want to assign a ringtone to.
7. You will now see a list of available ringtone.
8. Select it.

You should see at the very bottom of this list 5 empty locations this is where you can add your own mp3's as ringtones.
Now I Know your second question once you get this figured out will be how to assign ringtones to individual contacts in your phone book so here is part 2. 1. From the Main menu choose Phone
2. Choose Quick search
3. Find the contact in the list you want to add the ringtone by scrolling down the list and tap on their name
4. Choose Edit
5. Scroll down the list of options to the Musical note called Associate sound and select the ringtone from the list.
Your new ringtone will now function for that contact whenever they call!

Assigning downloaded ringtones Razr V3a

Before you can assign a ringtone to a contact, you must first go to "settings" and then to "ring styles". Click on "Detail" and go down to "Ringer IDs". Make sure it says "On". After that, you should be able to assign a ringtone to a contact by editing the contact details. (Custom ringtones are at the bottom of the list instead of at the top.) Hope that helps.

I don't think it's possible to assign ringtones to specific phonebook entries with the w375. You can't store many anyway!

Can only use 1 ringtone at a time on my Motorola v3.

Are your contacts off the SIM? You cannot assign a ringtone to a SIM contact that is different than your general ringtone. If it is a SIM contact save it to your phone then you should be able to assign a distinct ringtone.
