Question about La Pavoni Europiccola EPC-8 Espresso Machine

1 Answer

I bought a LA PAVONI EUROPICCOLA LUSSO LEVER ESPRESSO MACHINE - CHROME in Italy in 2008 am experiencing problems. When I raise the level nothing happens, it started taking two or three presses (as opposed to one) to get any coffee out and gradually got worse. Now I press it down 20 times and nothing happens. I'd really appreciate some help and am going to try to fix it myself.

    Hi,
Thank you for your comment. Parts 83 and 84 were a little loose, so I ordered new ones. I can't seem to get into the piston part.

Yes, I took out the piston and cleaned it, and the machine now works again - thank you.

Hi,

This problem could occur due to to two problems.

1)Blockages in the valves. There are many valves present that will cause this issue.
When it is blocked due to dust particles it will block the flow.Check in the the diagram of how
to separate the La Pavoni.Apply some air pressure at the valve knob endings and the flow turnings.

2)Piston may to block the flow.So take it clean and place it properly.

Here is the parts diagram which will help you take apart the La Pavoni.

Yes that 83 and 84 will always cause this type of problem.Piston works along with
the handle. At the end of the handle pressure is the piston located.

  • natalie_odon Sep 16, 2010

Yes, thank you. I know where it is, just not how to detach it from the shaft to carry out the cleaning proedure. I will wait until my 83 and 84 parts arrive and see if that helps.

Tip

La Pavoni Lever Machine Hissing?

Hi there,
If you have a La Pavoni lever model espresso machine and the safety assembley on the top right hisses while the machine is heating up, all you have to do is use something hard but preferably not metal or too large and tap the safety assembly quite firmly but not to hard and this should stop the hissing. This is because inside the assembly there is a bung on a spring and sometimes it becomes stuck and just needs a gentle tap to free it up. If it doesn't stop hissing then you can remove and stretch the spring or if needs be replace the spring and bung.

Water leakage through grounds when lever is raised on my La Pavoni Europiccola.

Hi your grind is to course and or your tamp is to loose. Even with the right grind and tamp water will filter down through the puck eventually.

On a La Pavoni europicola which way do the piston seals get installed, both the same way or opposite to each other?

Normally on lever machines the top seal sits with the cup area(slash in gasket) facing up and the bottom facing down.
