SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

Card locked message on a570is

Solution: I had a similar problem with another camera: no matter what position of the lock on the card was, the camera kept saying "card locked". I got the card out and looked inside the space where the card resided. There's a small pin there that is responsible for sensing the lock on the card. Sometimes the pin gets "tired" and you have to raise it a little bit: just try to straighten it up with a clip or a nail.
After I did it, the problem was solved.

CAMERA LOCKS MY MEMORY CARDS ,CANT USE

A locked memory card message refers to a small plastic switch on the side of the memory card. Take the card out of the camera and find the tiny plastic switch at its edge. Push the switch to the unlocked position and reinsert the card into the camera. It should work normally. This switch is used to prevent new photos taken on a card that contains valuable photos.

Please rate this fixya answer thanks.

My camera says "card locked"

Hi,

Remove the memory card and you will find a switch on the left side of the card. It must be locked, so slide or push the lock on other side to open it and then insert the card back to the Camera.

Ron

My Canon PowerShot A570 IS won't turn on. I put new batteries in and checked the memory card. What else can I do?

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

Canon Powershot A570 keeps showing change the batteries

I had the same problem. Here's the solution. Go into menu settings, then over to tools, select reset all at the bottom of options list. You may have to re-enter the date and time. This solved the low battery problem for me. I hope this helps.

Camera says, Card Locked

The cause is most likely the tiny lock switch on the side of the memory card has been moved to the "locked" position. Remove the card from the camera and slide the switch to the opposite position and you should be good to take more pictures. If this solves your problem, please rate the answer favorably. Best wishes.

Memory card error/card locked

It sounds like your card is locked. You need to unlock it. On one of the sides you should see a piece that can move back and forth. Move it from the position it is now to the other side. This should unlock your card. When locked the files are unaccessible to anyone. This also means that files on the SD card cannot be deleted while the switch is in lock position. When the switch is in up-position, then all files located on the card are accessible to anyone, and that files may be deleted from the card.

Good Luck.
