Question about Heating & Cooling

Raypak pool/ spa heater Low NOx Model 407A: Will take long time to fire, stays in spark mode, and then when iit does fire, it shuts off and takes long time to fire again. If you can get it going it stays on until desired temperature is reached. Repair company gave up on fixing it after multiple trips and stated that the burners were dirty and needed to be cleaned. Have pulled out burner tray and cleaned everything off with wire brush. Put back together and have same problem. Interesting note it will eventually fire in spa mode but will never fire in pool mode, as it stays in spark cycle, and you can hear it clicking and smell gas. I have seen errors, FAN for the blower and IGN for the ignition switch.

Heater is cycling on and off, less then one minute cycle time between cycles. Sometimes SPK code comes on and stays on without firing. Have shorted water press switch with no effect. Pretty sure gas...

The SPK Code, indicates that there is power to Igniter and should be producing a Spark to ignite fuel! If this is actually the case, then it is NOT a safety sensor issue, The igniter serves a dual purpose: produce a spark, and then CONFIRM a flame is consuming the fuel. If it does not get a proper Milivolt reading, then gas valve will shut off, hence a cycle occurs. Not enough reading is the same to the heater as no reading! Safety issue. If gas valve stays open, and no flame to consume raw fuel, it will build up and accumulate then when ignition takes place, it go...BOOM! Not Good.
Either insufficient fuel supply/pressure or faulty igniter. It's also not a Gas Valve. It's a simple switching valve, either open or closed.

I have a 399k btu raypak and it will not fire. The ignitor just clicks and it's coding SPK, never gets any further in it's cycle.

Look at the ignitor when its sparking. If you cant visually see it spark, then its probably a bad ignitor. If it is sparking and still acting the same, then its a gas valve issue most likely.
