Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Moving the washing machine to another room

I want to know whether just shifting the machine from one room to another requires putting the shipping bolts in again? I can't work out how to get them back in, and wonder if moving it a few yards on a trolley would do any harm without the bolts in?

Just as a wild guess, the control circuit in the washer may not work with 60 Hz shipboard power. The motor probably is not affected. You must be getting awfully tired of hauling that washer back and forth!

Brand new wahse was just installed. The spin cycle vibrates so hard that it moves on the floor and vibrates the whole room. Shipping plug has been removed and washer is level.

Hello. This happened to me, also. We removed the back panel of the washer and removed the styrofoam blocks around the drum. These are for shipping purposes and should have been removed at the time of installation. Hope this helps!

MY WASHER DOES GREAT UNTIL THE SPIN CYCLE, THEN IT GOES CRAZY. IT SPINS SO FAST THAT IT VIBRATES INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM... ITS ALL I CAN DO TO HOLD IT IN PLACE.. WHAT IS CAUSEING THIS. CAN IT BE...

We picked up a Frigidaire Infinity front loading washing machine. After the first load was washed as it was drying the machine started shaking violently and was moving around the room. We tried a few different things: load sizes, spin speeds, trying to make it even, holding it down, we had no luck. We had skipped removing the shipping hardware. Although it does say IMPORTANT, the importance was placed on keeping them for future use, when shipping, so we figured we could just leave them in. WRONG. They are long bolts! Once we removed them the machine purred during the spin cycle like a little kitten.

check to see if the shipping rods have been removed, also if machine is located on upper floor laundry room, the floor may not be sturdy enough to counter act the force generated during spin, this is a common issue in newer homes

Ginding noise during agitation

From the GE site.....

Front load washers and some compact model washers do not come with a shipping rod. According to the Installation Instructions for these machines there are 4 bolts, 4 yellow plastic spacers, and 4 metal "p" clamps that need to be saved and reinstalled before moving the washer to prevent any damage to the machine.
