I still have the same issue and it is intermittent. Today it is not working and last week it was. Does anyone know where the remote sensor is located for the Sony KP-53HS10?

  • arzee1 Apr 05, 2009

Unplugging the TV overnight helped for about a week. I think I'll try and replace the sensor. I checked Sony parts but could not find it. Can anyone point me in the direction?

BigMac posted the below comments in regards to an IR sensor issue I am having. I tried Sony but they will not sell me the part and neither will the authorized service center unless I bring the set in. Do you know where I can purchase this part, i have seached the internet but with no luck.

"The remote IR Sensor is behind the Sony Logo on the front of the screen... Can be accessed thru the back but it's a real pain ... make surf you get the magic focus sensor back in the same place and angle They are in stock from Sony parts for around 30.00"

Hey, I called the local Sony Authorized dealer/repair. He said the little microprocessor inside the sensor goes bezark once in awhile......soo.......unplug the TV from the wall when you go to bed and then plug it back in the next morning. It worked for me. The little gizmo resets itself.

Correct code for universal remote will not turn off tv. On the 50" digital led model ELEFT502. Original remote always had a weak signal worked only when pointed a foot away from infared reciever. Then quit...

No universal remote control will work with any TVs as well as the original ones. If the original remote control do not get range, there are two reasons for it; and can be repaired to.
1. Battery weak [Replace with new batteries]
2. The infra-red light emitting diode at the front of the remote control is weak.[Can be replaced with a new one. It can be bought from most of the electronic spare part selling shops]
Check the remote control for its infra-red emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check by pressing all the buttons on it; and see whether all of it generates infrared signal while pressing. If it is found OK, check and replace the infrared sensor inside the TV. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. It has details about how to check a remote control; by one among the post. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. If the remote control is found OK; check and replace the infra-red sensor inside the TV. Contact any service technician.

I have the bush urc-3541 and have put in the code for a Sony tv but it only works with the remote virtually touching the tv infrared panel! Any thoughts why this might be?

It sounds like either the infrared panel is broken or the sensor which sends the infrared signal from your remote is damaged. Usually, infrared is very reliable unless there is something blocking the "line of sight" or the view between the devices. Below is a link to clone an infrared signal to create a new remote or you could simply purchase a universal remote. Good luck.

Hi i am trying to change the screen size on av2 and 3 but it wont work the aspect button

Check the remote control for its infrared emission from infrared LED at its front. Do not assume that the remote control is OK, as the indicator LED on it lights up. It is only an indication that the remote control circuit accepts the keystrokes.
Just visit this site [Eectro-help]. You will get all details about how to check a remote control. All details are given there. Pull up older posts there. Search for it either by Yahoo or Google.
Make sure that the remote control is correct in all respect first. I assumes that the remote control you possess now is the original remote control of the set. Not a universal one. If it is a universal one, this type of fault can occur, because all universal remote controls won't respond to some functions.

Toshiba 32a14 does not respond to remote control

There is a infrared light sensor inside the TV which detects the infrared rays emitted from the remote control, when we press each button on the remote control. If this sensor has got damaged, the set won't respond to any remote control handset. The sensor can be located just behind the infrared sensor window at the front panel of the TV. To access it, you have to open the TV. It is a three terminal component, will be soldered diretily to front panel circuit board, of with the main baord itslef. Will look somewhat brownish black in colour. There are so many types can be seen . Just look what type if fitted with your TV.

Remote to tv doesn't work

Check the remote first for its infrared emission. If it is OK, the infrared sensor inside your tV is faulty. It should be replaced with same type and number. It can be located just behind the infrared window at the front panel of your Tv. You ahve to open your TV ot access it. It will have three solder terminals, and will look somehat brownish black in colour. Will look like this.

Remote won't work. Tried new batteries, reprogramming, etc. Universal Remote doesn't work either. LG #42PC5DC

To confirmed if the remote control is working fine, aim the remote control sensor(IR emitter) directly to your cellphone camera. While pressing any button key on the remote control, you can see the flash of an infrared emitted by the remote control if it is working fine.

If you've confirmed that the remote control emitted an infrared but still the tv won't communicate with it, this is an indication of faulty IR sensor board of the TV. Check if there's an obstruction from the IR receiver in front. Keep away all of it, clean the plastic window of the IR receiver with soft clean cloth.
If the symptoms still persist, you have to replace the IR sensor board. Check the actual part no. of the board before ordering.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

I have a sony Bravia KLV-S40A10E 4 years old.Remote controle device is no ore working. Batteries have been changed without solving the problem .. Other Remote device ( DVD-Sony ) is also not working...

You just check your remote control handset for its infrared emission. There is an infrared light emitting diode [LED], in front of your remote control handset from which infrared light rays are send to your TVs infrared sensor, fitted inside it, behind the infrared window on its front panel. Infrared rays are invisible to human eye. We can check if it is there by using a cellphone with camera option.
Put the cellphone in camera mode, and place your remote control's LED side towards its lens, for about a feet away or so, and when you push its each button, you can see an image in the phones' screen. If it is there, and still your TV don't work with remote control, TVs infrared sensor inside is faulty, and needs replacement.
If there is no infrared image from your remote control, you have to buy one new remote control. OK.
