Check your audio settings to make sure the speakers are set to laptop speakers, verify that the volume for the internal speakers are set to high and not muted. if this does not work, time to get replacements for your internal speakers. hope this helps and your rating would be appreciated,

SOURCE: sound is working but internal speaker is not working

Connecting headphones to the system will disabled the internal speakers until the headphone jack is disconnected, at which such time the internal speakers should function again.

If you disconnect the headphones and the internal speakers are not re-activated, then there may be damaged to the microswitch in the jack. (Try rebooting after the headphones are disconnected too)

SOURCE: Mic not working and audio coming from both headphone and internal speaker of laptop

Before you go changing drivers and re-installing.
Are you useing the Headphone set supplied by HP on the Laptop ?
The Male jack may fit your input connection but be the wrong connection configuration.
Just an idea. Try a regular mic and make sure it works before making all kinds of changes.
If the headphone set was supplied by HP with your unit, then you may want to bring it buy Radio Shack and ask them to check it for you.

A short in the input wiring will mess things up.
Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Hi,

I assume you tried other headphones and I also assume you tried all the 3.5mm jacks, just to be sure. Assuming this is true, then the headphone jack itself is the issue. make sure the plug goes ALL the way in. if it sticks out by just a few millimeters, then that means there is something stuck in the hole itself, and not allowing the jack to work.

if you go to the bios (restart computer and press del to go to setup) you should be able to look around and find the option for internal speaker. Set that option to disable and do not change anything else unless you know your way around. Save it and restart afterwards and it should disable the internal speakers.

moz-screenshot.pngmoz-screenshot-1.pngYour front panel audio / microphone connector has an AC97 connector inside which looks like this:

It is probably plugged into the motherboard somewhere. Try plugging it into the soundcard directly if it is in the motherboard. Or vice versa if it is plugged into the soundcard.

I am not getting any sound out of my internal speakers iam getting sound from my headphones

Make sure your sound is not muted for one.

Next, unplug your headphones, if the sound is still not working threw your internal speakers. Check to see if they are on or even installed correctly.

(For Windows 7) But if you have any other OS, just find the Sound from your Control panel.
Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Sound, Playback TAB. Make sure your "speakers" are "enabled" and "set to default".

No sound from built in speakers but headphones work

Have you checked the speaker settings? Make sure that all settings are NOT muted. One selection that is muted maybe where the sound is generated from. Such as MIDI playback. Otherwise it has to be either a missing update/driver or damaged speakers.

Built in speakers not working

Are you using external speakers? or internal?

EXTERNAL SPEAKERS: If your are plugging speakers into your headphone jack and they dont play, but you plug headphones into the same port and they work fine.. then it is the external speakers.

INTERNAL SPEAKERS: But if you are using the speakers in the laptop, then your speakers are probably bad. Try some software settings, but probly just bad speakers. Could also be that the speaker cord inside the laptop came unplugged from the motherboard. In which case you would have to take the laptop apart and plug it back into the motherboard.

Good Luck.

Sound Coming From BOTH SPEAKErs and headphones

Sound emanating from both the internal speakers and headphone/earphone while the later is engaged could mean a factory defect in your speaker device. Upgrading your OS from XP to Vista may not solve your problem. However, since the service center technician will probably insist on his diagnosis and recommendation, you may need to upgrade your OS just to prove your point.

My sound is not working unless i use headphones.

You need to check if internal speakers connection / cable is hooked up properly. You may need to open up the pc to see. If help needed on this, please as a technician to assist if you're not comfortable enough in opening it up alll by yourself.

If the connection or the internal speakers is busted, parts may need replacement.
