Question about Whirlpool Refrigerators
That could be caused by a number of things. Freezer temperature is too high, The Tube that feeds water into the icemaker could be froze up. Bad Water Valve. or Bad IceMaker.
Ensure the the Bar on the side of the icemaker can go completely down, against the side of the icemaker.
Let me know how you make out.

SOURCE: GE GSS25LGM Ice maker
Our Ice maker quit working. Won't make ice, but will dispense water. I unplugged the refrigerator and plugged it back in. I noticed that the green light on the ice maker is now blinking. It was steady on before I unplugged the fridge. Any ideas?

IF YOU HAVE THE SAME FREEZER AS MY MOM HAS THEN I MAY CAN HELP YOU OUT. FIRST OFF WHEN YOU OPEN THE FREEZER PORTION (SIDE BY SIDE STYLE) YOU WILL SEE THE ICE DISPENSER. TAKE THE PART OFF WHERE IS SHOWS YOU: TO MAKE ICE MAKE SURE ARM IS DOWN AND TO STOP MAKING ICE RAISE ARM. THAT IS A COVER THAT WILL COME OFF WITH NO TOOLS NEEDED. ONCE YOU OPEN THIS YOU WILL SEE A METAL FRAME WITH A WHEEL IN THE MIDDLE THAT SAYS DO NOT TURN BY HAND. LOOK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WHEEL AND SEE IF THE ROD IS BROKEN (FOR EXAMPLE MY MOMS HAD A CLIP ON THE ROD THAT WAS BROKE AND WOULD NOT ALLOW THE DIAL TO SPIN WHICH THEN MAKES THE ICE MACHINE SCOOP THE ICE OUT OF THE BOX) CHECK THIS WHEEL TO SEE IF IT IS STILL IN TACT. THIS COULD BE YOUR PROBLEM.

THE WATER VALVE IN THE BACK IS A TWO PART SYSTEM. EVEN THOUGH YOU GET WATER FROM THE DOOR THE ICE MAKER SIDE OF THE VALVE COULD BE BAD. CHANGE VALVE. B4 YOU SPEND THAT KINDA MONEY--DO A SELF CHECK FIRST--POUR WATER IN THE ICE CUBE TRAY. IF IT FREEZES AND DUMPS THEN CHANGE THEWATER VALVE. IF IT FREEZES BUT DONT DUMP CHANGE THE ICE MAKER.
