I have the same problem! I have been researching and the pump filter may need to be cleaned but I have no idea how to get to it. Anyone?

Mine is also doing the same thing. How do I access the filter and what tools do I need?

Whats an impeller and where is it located. My problem is it won't agitate or spin-maybe impeller? The drain is clear. Thanks!

The solution is pretty simple. there is a filter located right before the water pump.
* Remove the lower panel (lower as if you were looking at the front of the machine)
* Remove the 3 screws (it is easy if you have the lower drawer unit .. you will have to 'get low' if you don;t have it)
* You will see a 3" cap right facing you (in the center)
* GET A POT. and place it below the cap (foul water will come out when you remove the cap)
* remove the cap (finger tight)
* I found coins, hair, lint, dollar bills .. etc (about the size of a roll of cookie dough)
* Take CLEAN water and dump it into the washing machine (this will clean out the tube/hose)
* replace cap
* run machine BEFORE you put the cover back on (make sure it doesn;t leak)
* replace cover/screws

Good luck!

It could be something stuck inside the DRAIN MOTOR PUMP , need to take it out , do some cleaning , remove anything thats inside the impellers , and give it another try , AJ

Thank you johnfromiowa!
I followed your directions and found my girlfriend's watch she hasn't seen in a year! There was almost enough change in there to pay for a service call as well as the typical lint, etc.
It is working wonderfully and we are off to dinner with the spare change and money saved from a repair bill.
Gidyup!

Thank you!!! Mine is doing the same thing, but I really don't understand Julianfix response. How do I get to the drain motor pump?

Thank you Julianfix. I found the filter under the washer. Works like it is brand new again. My water was not draining and my clothes were starting to stink, bad!!!! There was a ton of junk in it. (hair rubber bands, bracelet, lots of lint, etc) Took mabe 15 min and saved us $$$. Thanks!

If the washer stops mid cycle the timer might be defective. This part is often misdiagnosed, check other components before replacing this timer.
f the washer stops mid-cycle the main control board might be defective. This is not common. Check other causes first such as the lid or door switch and other components.
If the washer stops mid cycle the water inlet valve cold water side may have failed. Most washers have a cold water rinse and so if they can't fill with cold water they just sit indefinitely waiting for the cold water to enter. If there is cold water to the water inlet valve and the cold water works in other parts of the cycle - or to make warm water - the valve is not the problem.
If the washer stops mid cycle the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.
If the washer stops mid cycle the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

WASHING MACHINE stopped in mid-cycle

if it stops at the drain and spin cycle check the lid switch, open the lid,set the washer to spin cycle and pull out the timer knob, stick a screw driver into the hole where the strike from the lid goes into and push down,if you don't hear a clicking sound when you push down on the switch in the hole then you have a bad lid switch but if your machine does run sometime it sounds like the switch will work if you push down on it,could be cracked where the screws go into it.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5aW9WkTFhE watch video on how to replace it.if you do hear a clicking sound when you open and close the lid or push down with the screw driver you could have a bad timer but check the lid switch first

Stops mid cycle. Light flashes, cant get it to move on so have to start all over again

Hi there.
I have the same problem with my machine. Whatever program I select, the machine runs fine until it reaches 54 mins of the cycle remaining. To overcome the problem just to select a cycle that will not stop mid cycle, select a program which is less than 54 mins. I think the 40 degrees and quick wash select is the one to run with. The cycle is 45 mins, obviously less that 54 mins. The LED timer will display the cycle time. No problems with this cycle whatsoever. Not the total solution, but at least you're able to complete a cycle. After it's completed, I also run the spin program at 1200rpm. I hope this helps.
Regards, Ian.

Maytag Atlantis stopped mid cycle

Bad/worn/broken lid switch look at the back of the lid there is a little lid cam there that hits a switch,if this switch isn't engaging it will do just what you are describing.use a small screw driver to push the button in and see if it starts.

Washer stopping mid-cycle

Push down on lid. You may have a bad lid switch. Start machine and press the switch down with something like a screwdriver and see if the motor runs.

GE Adora front load washer overloaded now won't start

Washers - Resetting Electronic Controls on a Washer

If there is a pause in the washer cycle, the controls will lock up. The pause can occur because of a power failure or it was put in the test mode at the factory.

Also, if the washer was stopped before the cycle was complete or the consumer has pushed the stop/pause button to temporarily stop the cycle and the cycle is not reset. Over a period of 24 hours, the washer will pump out and spin, but will stay in the final spin.

To correct the situation, shut off the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or unplug the washer, then turn the timer knob around and back to any position other than final spin. Verify the water is turned on and restore power. This should resolve the issue.
