Samsung DLP HL-S5087W 56" Confused...

Hello. I recently got hit with the three LED indicator lights, telling me the lamp was bad and needed replacement. I contacted Dicount Merchant to order a replacement lamp + enclosure. Installed the new lamp/enclosure correctly. Made sure the cover was sucure. Turned the TV on everything appeared to work great. I used the television for nearly two hours with no problem and went to bed. The next day, I went to turn the television on and I got the green indicator light flashing "lamp". It cycled approximatley three times, then went to flashing all three LED indicator lights. Which the manual calls for replacement of lamp...? What are the chances of getting a bad lamp? Also, are there any indicator signs that would point to a ballast problem or DMD board? Thanks guys for what ever input you may be able to give! I have the same problem on a HLN5065W and can't seem to make it work.

I would suggest to remove the lamp again and visual check the filament or you can also use a multimeter and check for continuity or low resistance. If you have low resistance or continuity when you measure it, It means the lamp still good.
I would contact the lamp vendor and let them know that the lamp failed. I think they gave some warranty on the lamp.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

Try removing the lamp and install it again. Sometimes an improperly seated lamp could cause the lamp to behave like is burn out.

Those lamps can be pretty touchy and susceptible to temperature changes and finger prints. Also some discount lamp dealers can accidently sell you the wrong lamp. Something simple and dull to try is to take that lamp out and put it back in, check that the connections are seated properly and the air pathway from the fans is clear.  If the fans were dirty and you put in a new bulb that worked for a while it may have burned out prematurely.

Those lamps are typically quartz arc and do not have a filament other then the starter. If the temp goes out of spec the quartz can crack and the arc will not propagate.

Hello,
Did you hear friction sound from behind unit?, if you hear it, change the color wheel.
Did lamp light before switched off?
and which indicator led in front side are blingking (Lamp ,Temp or fan).
If Lamp, chech the lamp.
If Temp, its mean hight temperature detected . check fan on engine, is it rotate smoothly or not, change that fan if necessary.
If Fan, its mean fan not working.

Thanks

Samsung tv model# HL-S5679W all three lights on front panel blink, no pix or sound owner's manual says lamp may be defective this is a DLP-LED. No conventional single lamp

The "lamp" in this set, I think, is called the "DLP" in the parts listings. That part is number: 4719-001960 and can be purchased from tritronicsinc.com for $249.75 plus shipping. Use the guest account to access this info.

Hope this helps,

I own a Samsung HL-R5067W 50'' DLP. Set is about 3 years old. Recently I heard a loud pop while viewing, picture distorted, but never went blank. I turned set off. When turned on again a loud whining noise...

Check your color wheel. There is a DIY guide for replacing the color wheel. Mine did the same thing yours is and my color wheel was all busted up. Unfortunately after replacing the color wheel my set continues to do the same thing, but this could mean I need to replace the ballast as well.

Samsung DLP TV time, temp and lamp lights blinking... won't turn

Les,
I'm not a TV repair guy but my owners manual states that when all three LED's or lights on the front of the TV are flashing, that the lamp needs to be replaced. Might want to look into this. Good luck!

Samsung DLP HL-S5087W 56" Confused...

Mine did that when the color wheel didn't spin up...just give it a whack where you installed the light & the wheel should spin up. I had to replace my color wheel as the bearing was shot & was buzzing all the time. The light won't come on if the wheel doesn't spin up first.

Samsung 56" shuts off after 5 or 10 seconds see a checker board image before shutoff

When the set shuts down you need to see what lights are blinking. For example: Timer/ Temp/ lamp on the front panel. You should also count the number of times they blink and the sequence. Most DLP`s give an error code alerting the technician to check the balast, lamp, or fan etc. for malfunctions. Unfortunately I can not tell you exactly what is wrong given the current information. Howrver, the last Samsung I repaired for shutting down had a bad light engine.
