Question about Maytag Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a Neptune stack washer that leaks water out the door on the 3rd rinse cycle on the side where you put in the fabric softener. When the wash is done and I open the door the fabric softener compartment is filled with water.

Hi, thanks for using FixYa.com. I suspect the dispenser may be plugged up a bit or the hose from the dispenser is plugged. Remove the dispenser insert and clean out the tray with hot water. After that, open door and remove the 4 phillips screws, 2 on each side of the door opening. Once removed, pry the front panel away the machine and set aside. Find the rubber hose coming from the dispenser assembly to the tub ring and remove it. Clean the hose and the inlet on tub ring of softener build up, reassemble and enjoy a properly working, non leaking washer!

How to add fabric softner to the amana washer with locking lid

Check and see if there is a cup in the top of the agitator. Some machines have you put it there, turning back and forth during wash doesn't bother it, but the spin to empty the wash water causes the softener to go out through slots in the top of the cup and be held in the agitator. when it stops the softener drains into the tub, ready for the rinse cycle.

Fabric softener premature release

In my case it was simply a matter of cleaning the nozzles that spray the water into the MAIN DETERGENT compartment. Turns our that when the washer was filling up, some nozzles were partially clogged and were directing water to the side where the softener compartment was, causing the fluid level to rise and therefore releasing the softener early. The washer was NOT spraying water in the softener side, what happens is that the dispenser tray is configured in a way that when the fluid reaches a certain max level in the softener/bleach trays, it completely drains. A way to test for this problem would be to completely dry the softener tray and start the wash cycle like you normally would (including detergent), only without adding any softener to the tray and see if after filling there is any water in the softener tray, this would prove that the water is coming from the other side.

My stacked Maytag front loader leaks out through the door when the fabric softener dispenser is being filled (2nd rinse cycle only). Any help?

The second rinse is when the softener cup is being flushed. Remove the dispenser and clean and inspect the housing to be sure no softener is gumming up the holes and blocking the water flow into the machine.

Maytag Neptune Stacked unit door leaks

This can be caused by water collecting in the door to tub seal. Best repair would be to replace the door seal.

Fabric Softener doesn't empty

My husband just fixed ours after not seeing a solution on any other site. He pulled out the dispensing unit and pulled off the blue plastic piece on the top of the fabric softener and bleaching section. He then ran warm/hot water (not boiling hot) through the holes where the fabric softener is suppose to flow through. This cleaned out excess fabric softener that had coagulated in the elbow and blocked the flow of softener to the unit.
