I got this game to work on my vista laptop with a dos box work around but when I played for 3 hours and came back the next day it did not save my progress. Is there a program or workaround I can download for windows 7 that will allow me to play these games and save the progress?

Also, if I was to obtain a computer with windows 95/98/ME would i still need to download another program to play and have my progress saved or would it just work from the installed disk?

To play older games on windows 7 you will just need to play them in "compatibility" mode. It works well for almost all games.Just follow these instructions:

To install the game in Compatibility mode,

1. Right click the installation file and select Properties.

2. Click the Compatibility tab.

3. Under Compatibility mode, check the Run this program in compatibility mode for: option.

4. Select Windows 95/98 from the available options.

5. Click Apply and OK.

I believe you can do it to the executable file as well (the one that would be something like gamefest.exe.

If you need any more help or have questions of any kind just let me know.

    I almost forgot.....you should download this program:http://www.dosbox.com/

It alows you to play games like yours without any real setup. I have it and I play close combat and fallout 1 and 2. It works well and its a really small program.

Hi,

This game is only compatible with 98 / ME / 95.

Unfortunately, it would not work on Windows 7 and there is no shortcut to the same. Read :-

http://www.amazon.com/Gamefest-Forgotten-Realms-Pc/dp/B00005JGR4

It is clearly mentioned regarding the platform. You could also read the same information on user manual.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

To start with, it could work for few minutes or so on Vista, there is no way to run all features on Windows Vista as well. These games are made with certain platform in mind.Had there been an option, the manufacture would never mention platform on the games.

    Thought about few questions:-

    1. Why would a manufacturer mention only windows 95,Me and 98 on it? Why wouldn't they mention ' All platforms'?

    2. If there had been a patch,it should be available, however there is no patch or trick for the same.

I hope i have been helpful.

    Thank You.

    Thanks for your response!!

If you would get a PC with these platforms ( 98, ME or 95 - It would be tough to buy these platforms as MS is not offering these platforms any more ), you need to start the game from the scratch. You cannot continue from where you have it right now. I know it is a pain, but that is a fact.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

    Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Problem installing Advanced D&D Core Rules 2.0

Try going to My Computer, and seeing which drive the disk is in. It will say something like "Dungeons&Dragons(F:)". Then take that and click Start, Run, and enter that info. If that doesn't work, right-click the drive in My Computer and select "Explore" and look for something like "AutoRun" or "Install". Hope that helps.
