I have a Nikon D40x. About every 100 or so frames that i take, there is a problem with the Nikon Metering system. It incorrectly chooses the Aperture and Shutter Speed. Outdoors, it sometimes overexposes pictures. Indoors, it makes them very dark or black.
Should i take this in to get it fixed? I have extended warranty...Alas, this is an intermittent problem.
Thoughts?

I have the same problem. Using the manual modes doesn't help.

it may be a problem with the camera, but you should be using the manual modes....they are much more accurate. if you are worried about it being a defect issue, then send it in.....
I have one also, and have found it to be a bit slow on the metering side on the pre-programed modes.....
