Installing a wireless card in my presario 2200

I looked at the specs on the HP website and it doesnt seem to have wireless, you will need to purchase a wireless card and install into computer, you can get pci or pci express, both relatively cheap, hope this helps.

Yes your computer can have wireless as long as you have a wireless modem hooked up to your main computer
A wireless card that will work for your Windows Me machine is made by SMC.
I am sure there are others that will work in your computer also but I have this type sitting on my desk at this very moment.

To connect to your DSL internet you will need an ethernet port or wireless card on your laptop. Your laptop should have an ethernet port, it will look like a phone jack but a little bigger. In the off chance that you don't have an ethernet port on your laptop you can also purchase an ethernet to usb adpater. You may have a wireless card installed on your laptop, but if not you can purchase a usb wireless adapter. To use your internet wirelessly in your home you'll also need a wireless router. All of these things can be purchased at your local electronics store (walmart, best buy, kmart, frys) and usually are fairly easy to setup with the included instructions.

Yes, but fairly difficult. Try to find a wireless pcmia card with teh original disk that should have a program that will install a utility and o the setup for you.

If there is no antenna then you'll have to buy the wire set via eBay, take apart the lcd, remove the top assembly of the laptop and then run them through the computer and put everything back. NOT FUN.

It's probably much easier and realistic to just purchase a usb wireless card.

To check if the wireless card is bad or OK.
Go to Control Panel - Network Connections - Is the wireless network connection listed and if so is there a red X on this connection?
If so, right click on the wireless and click Repair - this may fix your problem, it forces the wireless router to issue the wireless card with a new IP address.
If it doesn't fix the problem then go to Control Panel - System - Hardware tab - Device Manager - scroll down to Network Adapters and expand and check your wireless card, is it Working and Enabled?
If has a yellow ? against it or not working then reinstall the wireless card driver.
If the wireless card is built-in check the BIOS to see if the wireless card is enabled, if not enable the wireless card and repeat the above steps.
If this doesn't fix your problem then the wireless card is faulty and you need a new wireless card. You can get a PCMCIA wireless card to replace the faulty wireless card. If the wireless card is built-in then disable the faulty wireless card in the BIOS before you install the new wireless card.

First, make sure that the type of card that you bought is compatible with the slot. Your presario can use Type I or II standard PC or PCMCIA cards. If the linksys adapter that you bought is not a PC/PCMCIA card, rather an ExpressCard, it really won't fit.

try the driver for the PRIOR version of Windows, usually it will work. The driver for 98SE/2000/ etc. may be your fix!

I looked up the the manual for your model computer on the hp.com website, and it doesn't look like it has an ExpressCard slot, which means there isn't any place to install the AT&T Wireless GT Ultra Express Card.
