Sounds like the microphone is damaged, blocked/covered or perhaps just disconnected.

Our line one cuts out even when we're talking on it & we can just barely hear the person on the line but they can hear us clearly. We have unplugged the phone's power cord & plugged it back in...

I have the same sort of problem...kinda..lol. My Vtech sorta 'cuts out' when there is noise at my hosue. The person I'm talking to can still hear me but I can't hear them. If my son starts crying or there's any other loudish type noises on my end, it's like the phone is trying to cutout my background noise, but all it's cutting out is the person talking to me. It's not that the noises in my house are loud and I jsut can't hear the person I"m talking to, b/c if i cover the mouth peice then no matter how loud the sound in my house is i can still hear the person i'm talking to but I HAVE to keep the mouth peice covered. It's really annoying!

Hello,

The problem with your phone is that the mouth piece of the phone is bad, that is why they cannot hear you.

All you need to do is to replace the mouth piece of your phone and you will see that after the replacement, they can now hear you when you call or when you been called.
Just change the mouth piece as i advice and you see that they can now hear you when you talk.

Meanwhile you can get hands free to be talking pending the time you will fix your mouth piece problem.

Take care.

I cannot hear callers and they cannot hear me, except in speaker mode or with a B'tooth device. Any advice?

In this case check the volume of you're Handheld, If it is low, Increase the volume and check still if it is not working. This might be a Hardware issue you need to walk into the service center to check the speaker of you're Handheld.

I just replaced the housing on my blackberry pearl and now....

you got to make shure your mic was instaled properly if it was part of the old housing you must put it into the new one if your mic is on the board itself check to see if you damaged the headset plug this is a problem people forget how sesistive these electronics are any slip of the hand can remove several parts of the board and you wont be able to see the damage its cheaper if you get someone that knows how to handle such sensitive equipment if you cant solve your problem chances are you ruined you phone good luck!

Blackberry Pearl Sound

Assuming you have the audio volume turned up, do you have a bluetooth headset? Check the Bluetooth options to make sure there are no associated bluetooth devices (or just turn bluetooth off).

If that still doesn't work, try clicking the trackwheel and seeing if it says "Mute" or "Unmute" respectively.

If you still can't hear the callers voice, you may have a defective earpiece in the phone and it's time for repair. If you don't have a bluetooth headset, you can try to use one of those to hold a conversation. I have my bluetooth headset around my neck at all times, I can't stand talking without it. As an added bonus, people who can't see my earpiece in my ear thinks I'm talking to myself.
