2, 4 blinks is error code for vertical deflection problem--means a problem in the circuit that deflects the picture top to bottom.

Not likely to be a do it yourself repair as you would have to get the light box out to examine it.

A few thoughts from me: It could be bad solder connections on the vertical chip on the middle board, or a bad part there.

It could also be a GLYCOL issue---simple to look for and I can tell you how.

Let me know if questions or more information needed.

If this told you something you did not know, rate this solution as very helpful as I do this here for free.

Found problem to be cold solder connection of DY (Yokes) on vertical .I bent the tip on my Weller gun and used a mirror and soldered. It was a sure repair.I went back to the first set,and soldered and it repaired it!,The second set got junked out before I could get to it.

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the input/device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source.

Mitsubishi vs 50607

Good Day, gntjige73 & muse923;
Let make this short and sweet, code 24 means you have a vertical problem. Four common things can cause this:
1. Bad connections on the convergence IC's,
2. Bad cap's in b + to vertical circuit,
3. Bad connections/or failing vertical output IC,
4. Or fluid on the PC board, leaking from the crt's.
The companies you called DO NOT call them back, but call a factory authorized service dealer, they will help you, but always remember to get a written estimate before you proceed with the repair. Good Luck, big IRISH>

I'm not sure of the fix, but my manual says the 2-3 error code is due to Horizontal Deflection Failure. Hope this helps. I just uploaded my service manual, it should be available in 24 hours pending fixya's approval.
