The machine has a provision for fault codes and the code flashes when a problem is detected. The recent fault codes can also be accessed by activating the diagnostic test mode. The diagnostic test can also be used to determine what part and function is impaired.

Please indicate the exact model number of the machine for the diagnostic test activation procedure and for further troubleshooting. You don't have to accept or reject and rate this post to add information or post comments and follow-up questions should you need further assistance. But accepting a solution does not stop you from communicating with an expert. You may continue communicating with the expert as long as you need assistance regarding the issue stated herein.

The fault code F20 commonly appears during the fill cycle when the central control unit (CCU) detects water not entering the machine or the pressure switch is not tripped 6 minutes after the water valves are turned on. It also appears during the draining cycle when the CCU detects no water level change through the pressure switch. This is either due to a faulty pump, pressure switch, or CCU.

Since the machine works fine when set to rinse and spin cycle, I can deduce that the pump is working and so the pressure switch since it will not advance to the spin cycle unless the rinse water is drained. These suggest that the CCU is the one at fault. But check first for loose conenctions in the pump, pressure switch , and the CCU. Reseat connections and make they are free from corrosion and fully inserted. Consider replacing the CCU if the machine works perfectly when set to rinse and spin cycle but will not advance automatically to the rinse and spin cycle after the wash/tumble cycle.

It is being referred to by Sears as electronic control like all other electronic parts. It is also the same as machine control unit (MCU) which is part number W10133558, the authorized substitution for part number 8540788.

How can you get a washer smelling good?

First of all this mainly happens when you use cold water washing, the plastic bowl(s) become slightly porous over time & the dirt from clothes adhere to the area between the inner & outer bowls.

To clean & remove smell.

1. Put washer on hot wash, high level & let it fill with HOT water.

2. Stop washer, put in an old towel.

3. Add a bucket of hot water (This allows the water level to be above the scum mark inside machine.

4. Add washing soda to the bowl (double the amount it says on the packet).

5. Start washer & allow to run to the end of the first wash cycle.

6. Stop washer & allow to sit for a few hours.

7. After the few hours, start washer & allow it to run the rest of the full cycle.

you can do the same procedure with Vinegar.

you may have to repeat procedure a few times.

TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING AGAIN YOU NEED TO DO THIS PROCEDURE ONCE EVERY 3 MONTHS.

The worst case scenario, you will have get a technician to remove the inner bowl & manually clean these areas.

Whirlpool GSQ9669LW1 washer. Originally Load Size was set to small. After water was filled to that level and machine started to work, wanted to add more water. Turned the Load Size knob to Medium, nothing...

You would have to start the wash cycle all over in order to get enough water for the med load size. Once the washer starts it cycle you have to cancel that cycle to start a new one. Hope this is a help to your question

Samsung WA422PRHDWR not filling with enough water

I find that some of my clothes don't seem to get wet enough to clean them properly. I like to use the pre-wash cycle to wet everything thoroughly then the machine goes through the normal wash cycle and it seems to do a better job. Just an idea.

Maytag a112 manual on how to add bleach AND fabric softener

Hi
Choosing Your Detergent, Bleach, and Fabric Softener..
Learn what the different items you need to wash your laundry.
Liquid Laundry Detergent and Fabric Softeners
When using liquid laundry detergent, you do not want to poor it directly on your laundry. The dyes in the liquid laundry soap could stain your clothing. You will want to start your washing machine and add the liquid laundry soap while the water is filling the washing machine.
You then can add your laundry once you have about and eighth of the washing machine tub filled. This will ensure your laundry doesn't become stained by the detergent. You should only add the amount that is poured into the cup to the fill line. When you add more, you could find yourself wading through mounds of bubbles overflowing from your washing machine.
The same reasoning applies to liquid fabric softeners. However, liquid fabric softeners are added to the washing cycle after the initial washing cycle is finished. You will want to add the fabric softener once the washing machine has filled with water and started to agitate. This keeps the fabric softener from touching the laundry and will work it into your clothing better.
Powdered Laundry Detergent
You will want to add one cup of loose laundry detergent to your washing machine in the same manner you would do the liquid laundry detergent. By doing this, the powdered laundry detergent will dissolve easier.
Bleach
When adding bleach to your laundry, there is a small triangular cup in the corner of your washing machine. By adding one cup of bleach into that dispenser, the bleach will be added to the laundry at a precise time during the wash cycle.
Setting Your Washing Machine
Most washing machines have three or four cycles. For instance, the Maytag Washer I have has four cycles, regular, permanent press, delicate, and soak.
Regular Washing Cycle
The regular cycle is used for the following types of clothes and other apparel:
• Jeans
• Towels
• Blankets
• Sheets
• Quilts
• Bedspreads
The soil types for this cycle are heavy, normal, and light. This means clothes or other articles that are lightly too heavily soiled should be washed in this cycle. This is due to the washing cycles can be set from a minimum of eight to fourteen minutes maximum. You can use all three of the water temperatures in this cycle.
1Permanent Press Washing Cycle
The permanent press washing cycle is used on the clothes that may or may not need to be ironed.
Such as:
• Blouses
• Shirts
• T-shirts
• Under garments. This would be your unmentionables and socks.
• Jackets
• Sheets
• Baby Clothing
The soil types for this wash cycle are normal and light. The washing times for the permanent press cycle are six minutes to ten minutes. You can use all three washing temperature modes for this cycle as well.
Delicate Washing Cycle
The delicate washing cycle is normally used for sweaters, cotton, silks, and other fabrics that need to be washed with care.
The soil types for the delicate cycle are normal and light. The washing times for the delicate cycle are four and six minutes. It is best to wash your delicate clothes in warm or cold water. Always wash clothing that is more than forty percent cotton in cold water to prevent shrinking.
Soak Washing Cycle
The soak cycle would be used for heavily soiled clothing, such as, football and baseball uniforms. This will help rid the uniforms of caked on mud and grass stains.
You can also use this cycle if you wish to only bleach your white's once a week or once a month with bleach.
Washing Your Laundry
Choose the cycle you need for your laundry. Add the laundry detergent, fabric softener, and bleach (remember regular liquid bleach is for white clothes only.) Start the washing machine and let fill to dissolve the dry detergent or to mix in the liquid detergent.
Now add your clothes to the washing machine. Clothes the lid so the washing machine will continue to wash your clothes.
If you are using a Laundromat, put your clothes in the washing area and shut the lid or door. Add your detergent and other cleaning items in the correct compartments. Put in the correct amount of change so the washer will start.

No rinsing water coming in

There are 2 versions of this washer dryer, a cold fill only one and a hot and cold fill version.
If it is the cold fill version, it could be the water level switch that is malfunctioning, cutting off before the correct level is reached, or a sticking water inlet valve.
If it is the other version, then the same thing applys, plus the coil on the valve that controls the rinse cycle could be open circuit.
You need a meter to test the valve coils for continuity..
Make sure that there is actually cold water to the valve, if it is a hot and cold fill model.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Washer powers down during wash cycles

It is most likely a very slow fill problem ,either the cold or hot water supply is restricted and the machine cannot sense the right water temp. and will shut down .

Machine cannot wash properly with a small amount of water.

Ckeck ,the screens in the water valve or at the hoses at the top where the faucets are ,clean them or replace them but never leave them out .

Water level adjustment

You don't. Front load washers use only a very small amount of water. They fill a small amount, tumble a bit, resulting in water being absorbed into the clothes, which drops the water level in the tub. The washer senses this and adds more water, which repeats until water level stabilizes. The only way to get more water on wash cycles is to use delicate cycles, which use more water, resulting in a more gentle wash action. Remember that due to the low water consumption of front load washers, you should only use one tablespoon of HE detergent per cycle. (even less if you use 2x or 3x concentrate.) This is a FixYa solution. Your washer is working as designed.
