Question about Kenmore 18.3 cu. ft. Top Freezer Refrigerator w/Through-the-Door Water Dispenser
My freezer is working overtime but the refrigerator is not working at all., I have to turn it off all the way and let it thaw out for a day or so and then turn it back on again., very frustrating with food costs I cannot afford to throw away food.
I think you have a defrost system problem. Could be a defrost timer, or defrost heaters. (IF) you can locate the defrost timer it is possible to rotate the clutch head screw clockwise SLOWLY until you hear one click, wait about 30 minutes and the defrost should take place if the heaters are good. If the refrigerator fails to restart after the time period rotate the screw again SLOWLY until you hear the second click. The compressor will start again into the cooling mode. If you had to turn the screw the second time your defrost timer is bad and you need a new one.
