If you do not have the HP VS17e monitor user guide, I would like you to download it, (Free), from HP Support,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?man_lang=en&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1822299

Looking at the back of your monitor, view the right side.
The port all the way to the right is for a VGA cable,

[VGA connector:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_connector ]

The port to the left of the VGA port is for an Audio cable.
With an audio cable plugged in your monitor speakers will work.

In the User Guide this is shown in an illustration on Page 35.

Details of how to attach the audio cable are on Page 37.

(Please bear with me if you are familiar with PDF files.

At the top of the PDF file, is a header containing the page number box.
The page number box is to the right of the blue Down Arrow.

You can use the Down Arrow to arrive at Page 35, or you can use a faster method.

Put your mouse cursor in the page number box.
Left-click once.
Type 35.
Press the Enter key )

The audio cable plugs into the I/O area on the back of your computer, into the audio port if you are using Integrated Audio.
(Input/Output area. Where the mouse, keyboard, and so on plug in)

If your computer has a separate sound card, the audio cable will plug into it, instead of the I/O area.

Looking at the Front of your monitor, the headphone jack plugs in underneath on the right side.
(I know you are aware of this. Just being detailed)

Once the headphones are plugged in, your speakers are muted.

The TCON board can give you both Horizontal and Vertical lines, it is real easy to fix and fairly cheap. The most I have had to pay for any TCON board has been $45 plus shipping. Mostly what goes bad on these boards are the IC, a part that costs around $5.00 but requires micro-soldiering experience and tools.

Try using MP3 player feeding the monitor to see if you get the sound OK first. Are you using stereo male to male mini jack for connection from PC audio line out (Green jack) to Monitor audio line in (Green jack)?

I'm trying to replace rear speakers in my 99 ford expedition and i'm trying to find out the size and how to install

Ford usually fitted elliptical speakers in their models in the 1990's so it's possible that yours are 6"x9" or something similar.
You can get replacements from Ford, (which are usually very expensive!) or buy some better ones on the Internet, such as Ebay or Amazon.
I bought a pair of German Blaupunkt 6x9's for my car from some site I found on Ebay and the price was around half of that to buy the *same* speakers from Ford Spare parts Dep't!!!
The sound is fantastic!

PS: You should be able to access the rear speakers below the rear parcel shelf at each side of your Expedition. They are held in place by 4 screws, which usually have a Posidriv (+) type screwdriver head.
When refitting, make sure!!! that you fix the +ve spade terminal to the +ve marked on your new speaker & the -ve terminal to the -ve. Do this on both speakers to make sure that they are both in-phase (so both bass drive units are pushing air forwards together). If you don't keep them in phase, the speakers will produce much less bass - which is clearly noticable!

Hope this helps

I have a HP 1755 flatscreen monitor but i cant get it to work

There should be a 3.5mm stereo phone jack on the monitor. You need a 3.5 male to 3.5 male cable to plug the monitor into the speaker out from your PC. Cable can be purchased at Radio Shack for under $10.
