Question about Robotoolz RT-5250-2XPK ePlane XP High Power Automatic Leveling Laser and E

1 Answer

I sent my unit in for repair with robotoolz in 2008 after owning for about a year. The problem seemed that it was always hunting for level. Never stopped adjusting. I got it back and it sat idle for two years. Tried it the other day and the same problem exisists. Worked ok when I got it back the two or three times I used it. I've changed batteries and everything else I could think of. What it does when I turn it on it centers itself and the green light comes on. When I push the laser light button the laser comes on and blinks. After a while it will start to rotate but I can hear it is trying to level itself. The beam is not level.

Your link to the mfg doesn't work. I'm not satisfied with the response I got from you. You haven't given me any information that I couldn't have found myself. Thank you

There seems to be much confusion with the leveling feature of this tool. The directions are not real clear either whenit comes to leveling. You should call the manufacturer to get tech support. I will send you a link to there site and phone #.

I own a RT-3620-2. The liquid in one of the leveling windows has leeked out. Can I get this repaired?

Contact a laser service center. I doubt anyone will be willing to work on it. It would be a lot of research for a 2.00 part. Usually you will be unable to find parts for big box store lasers. A laser dealer may have a broken one laying around that he can pull a used part from. Just a a precaution I'd recommend never purchasing a laser from a retail store such a sears or home depot. If possible go with a Leica Geo-systems unit. Topcon, spectra physics, and trimble are also good lasers that have all parts readily available. In the service industry we call cst, bosch, robotoolz, "throw away lasers" because if anything at all goes wrong you throw it away. If i recall properly I have searched for parts for Robotoolz and contacted the manufacturer in the past. I was told that they are not supported and parts are not available. Check around and see if you can find a service center with a used part. Google search (Leica Geosystems, Topcon, Trimble Laser dealer).

My Robotoolz : RT-7210-1 was stored improperly and now the lazer beam is dim and hard to see in bright sunlight... Could really use info on repair or info on a place that can repair it for me.

Improper storage (I've done it too), usually means that the batteries have become too hot - and
therefore weak. The first thing I'd try is changing the batteries.
The 635nm laser operates on (4) AA batteries, and the rotary uses (1) 9V battery.
The online reviews for this a horrifically bad - see:

Uno.comi have a robolaser level rbo1001 that dosnt work. put in all new batterys. worked great for 10-11 yrs now nothing. light or rotation.b

I have a Porta-Cable,I found that the clicker's battery always had a bad connection so I put packing around it and it has worked so far. I've also found that the first time moisture hit the thing the spread lazor lost it's power. If yours worked for 10 years, then it already paid for itself.

I have a RoboToolz RB01001 rotary laser. The green light comes on for approximately 2 sec. then goes out and the unit does not function at all. It has very little usage and has been cared for, never tossed...

That's usually a battery problem either in the laser unit or the remote control. The battery in the remote tends to disconnect if bumped. A small piece of foam pad at the bottom of the battery can fix that.

Cant calibrate laser

You must place the unit 30' from a wall, level the unit with the level indicating vials, mark spot on wall or object, rotate laser 180 degrees and level with vials again, if it comes to the same spot your unit is calibarated. if not then you must do this process at least 2 times(1 for each directional level) and use the adjusting screw to move vial. it takes a while to get it right.

The red beam on my laser won't show outdoors?

Check for a lint ball or a small piece of debris in the lens area. The smallest piece of anything will knock the brightness down. New batteries would be the only other thing I would think of.
